For The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds, Nintendo managed to implement silky smooth 60 frames per second. This begs the question: could future Zelda titles incorporate the same rate as well?

Well… no. Zelda: A Link Between Worlds director Hiromasa Shikata says 60 FPS isn’t necessarily a standard for additional entries in the series. In the case of the 3DS game, the team wanted to ensure a “smooth” look for the 3D visuals, “allow the players to clearly see enemy movements, and keep everything moving crisply as with previous games.” Having said that, “This doesn’t mean that all future Zelda titles will run at 60 frames per second.”

I don't like this at all.

I...honestly don't get the big deal.

I know with some games (namely fighters) achieving 60FPS is an important thing, but I just don't see the huge deal otherwise.

On my pc anything less than 60 is noticable, but on console? meh. 30 fps is fine for most things. Maybe if I got used to 60 fps on console that would be a different story.

Outside of boss fights not much of an issue. Most the time you will be pushing blocks to solve a puzzle. Hyrule Warriors does need to keep a steady framerate. I have not played any HD DW games so not sure how they hold up. Just have the PS2 games. Sonic,Mario Kart,Project Cars,Watch_Dogs stuff like that I hope stays in 60. I think Mk8 has promised to do so and Sonic Lost World did. Zelda and RPGs 60 or 30 is no big deal. Now Visual Novels..lol you can have 1fps and be fine.

Zelda doesn't NEED 60 fps.

And the reasoning is likely that they are putting a heavy emphasis on visuals, which they should.

Zelda is big. No reason for it to be trumped in the visuals dept. in racing or a fast moving fps, 60fps is very helpful.

But in an exploration/action game, it still would be great, but less essential. No big.

I'd rather have higher end models, textures, and effects than frames which can barely be discerned.

I loved it. it looked exactly like I was peering into an adorable little shoebox universe.

You guys arent making any sense, you are acting like Zelda has always been 60fps, and just now, and only now have they announced its going to change in the future.

3d zelda has always been 30fps.

Oot was 30 fps, mm was 30 fps, wind waker was 30 fps, twilight princess was 30 fps, skyward sword was 30 fps, wwhd was 30 fps.

albw was an outlier, if it can even be xonsidered that, as it clearly had no intention in fitting in with any of the 3d zelda's, its almost like it was a throw back to earlier overhead zeldas or something, and not a camera behind the back 3rd person zelda style.

I think they should have just not said anything. This makes it sound like they won't be able to achieve 60fps in the future, and that's simply not true.

I liked it. it was how they did Phantom Hourglass and Spirit tracks. I hope they do more in that style.

To be honest I just expect something better from a stronger console but it never really bothered my experience with most games. I think the only games the frames are noticeable are fighting games but I'm not that into the tech side of gameing so maybe others will get offended by the 30 fps and 720p stuff.

Seriously I think The Last Of Us and God Of War ran at 30fps and those looked amazing granted it's not an open world game but still I never heard people complaining about those games.

You mean the other two overhead handheld zelda's? Its almost like there is a pattern here... I almost mentioned them, but figured it would be too redundant to actually say it.

Liking it is irrelevent. I LOVED it, and with the sales to cost to make ratio of albw you can be garunteed they will be doing it again, but it doesnt change the fact that oot designed zelda's, IE third person controllable camera Zelda's with system pushing graphics are, have been, and have always been since their inception, 30fps, whilst overhead zelda's including the portable titles up to a link between worlds, are overhead perspective and 60fps.

This is not news. This is idiocy run rampant and sensationalized.

No F%^&*$* S$%* gamz journaliz, the graphics pushing console Zelda's are going to maintain the standard of 30 fps in favor of the highest fidelity visuals physics and simulations possible by the team on the console.
