As a child of the arcade era, there was something special about each win I’d earn while on the Street Fighter IIcabinet. Since each game was pay to play, every win felt that much more euphoric as I watched my defeated opponent have to pony up more money, whereas each loss stung that much more as I felt my pockets running out of coins. Essentially something more than pride was on the line each game, and that made everyone play all that much harder. With the advent of free online play, it’s been difficult putting something on the line other than pride… UNTIL NOW.

Street fighter is literally out on the cyber street, working tricks, tag teamed between two sweaty mouth breathers, for a few humiliating minutes at a time, culminating in heavy breathing, sweaty palms, and a sticky finish.... for chump change showered upon her by faceless onlookers looming in the alleys shadows. Now we cant even make jokes about franchise whoring, as its now the literal truth, instead of a metaphor.

A lot of people who travel to competitions do this anyway. This is more a system for those who compete at an advanced level, so I don't really see what's wrong with this system. It's not like a bunch of beginner players are going to be suckered in.... or so I cry to myself at night.

Genius idea. Gambling through consoles should come next. I mean, games made for it. I would not play them (I would rather gamble on the market), but many would. 

 

Imagine gambling on your finish position in Mario Kart.

2) Players wouldn't do that. People would pay to represent their skill, not to see if they can dodge blue shells.

really don't know how to feel about this, but i do know i wont partake in that. It's going to be top tier repetitive play, and eventually you'll see alot of cheats coming out.

Games are about fun. Not gambling.

And doc is cool, but it shouldn't displace old school gems like unlocking characters via gameplay,secrets, etc. all the Easter eggs that made gaming increasingly great.

Now we get crap thuggish low-life drivel such as this...

Which is an apt description of exactly what capcom has done with every once great franchise they have.
