Posted 28 February 2014 - 06:14 AM
Not true. Sony has a number of strong first party franchises. In fact Microsoft relies more on third party developers then either Sony or Nintendo.
Yes, they have titles, but most of them are not system sellers. Many of them aren't even popular enough that someone who isn't a follower of gaming would have heard of.
Mario, though, Mario is more well known than Mickey Mouse.

Sadly, I've had to drop that idea. Not because I don't want to, I just won't have the 500 bucks or so by the time the game rolls around.
At least, I don't think I will. Anything could happen, I'm just not banking on it anymore. Chances are, I'll get one late summer/fall or so.

One of the most innovative features is the wobbling mode

Hehehe, yeah I don't know what that is all about. I bought some adhesive rubber feet for mine as my shelf is too shallow so it wasn't sitting on the PS4s rubber feet at all (so it didn't wobble anyway).

You mean they'd end up like Nintendo?

umm Nintendo is getting 3rd party support

That'll be a system seller for sure.

The innovation is in brainwash marketing.
BOOM!

Let me follow this conversation...You mean like Nintendo with its constant rehases of Mario and Zelda?
gamers don't want innovative gimmicks like a Gamepad, Wii-motes and Kinect 2.0, they want a standard box with innovative software offerings.
Again where PS4 offers nothing or XBO.
Yeah... this still doesn't make any sense. You mean like Nintendo with its constant rehases of Mario and Zelda?
Yes, 1 is indeed a number. Not true. Sony has a number of strong first party franchises. In fact Microsoft relies more on third party developers then either Sony or Nintendo.

Sony gaming devices have been the same(ps1,ps2,ps3,ps4)and its quite easy to predict how there next System idea/function but Nintendo systems have always been different (each one had a completely different idea or function)

Uhm.... no. Just no.
PS5: More power (that's difficult to tell without looking ver closely), a slightly tweaked Dualshock, maybe improved Vita support, and little to no B/C
Next Nintendo console: Unknown name, unknown specs, unknown capabilities, unknown controllers, full backwards compatibility.
I suppose if you include b/c then your point is a little bit valid.

Sony and MS always really focus on more power.
Nintendo did as well until Wii but they always believed the software and the controller needed to adapt as well with each console.
NES added a D-pad,SNES added shoulder buttons,N64 added analog,Gamecube..well this is where Nintendo fell flat,They thought a big center buttons with smaller satilite buttons would be the future of how controllers were designed. Wii added motion from waggling to pointing. Wii U added the seconds screen experience where MS and Sony again tried to replicate.
Now Nintendo is not first with analog, that was vectrex,SNES had a licensed by Nintendo 3rd party controller with a LCD screen in the middle, however Dreamcast was the first to implement it day 1. When Nintendo was not first they were the ones who would at the very least popularize it. Mario 64 was made to show of analog. In fact I think every mario game is the first to truly utilize each controller from Nintendo.
SEGA innovated a hell of a lot as well,SEGA's issue was they did not have Nintendo's pockets and did not have Shiggy. They also often had bad timing. Not to mention some real blunders like SEGA CD and 32x. Sony with PS2 was the cheapest DVD player in Japan at launch. PS3 was the cheapest Blu Ray player at launch. PS1..well many CD systems before played CD's so meh. What Sony did with PS1 is they captilized on Nintendo's mistake to go with Carts instead of CD. A mistake that launched the PS brand into a household name rather than mentioned slong the likes of CDi or 3D0.
Xbox as a console offered a HDD other than that off the shelf PC parts What it did offer in 2001 was Xbox Live which was modeled but improved off of SEGANET. Xbox 360 continued to build on Live and brought the indie scene to consoles.
Xbox live is now a dated format that PSN and even Nintendo Network off a few things better like you can access Netflix and such for free. Until PS4 you could playt multiplayer free and PSN offered PS+. Paying for XBL is like those people who stil pay 21$ a month for Email(yes I remember those days).
PS4 is just a PC in a console box. XBO is a PC on a console box but a bit messier with the forced on Kinect which is cool tech but does not add anything to gaming really that makes it essential.
Wii U offers the Gamepad which is mightly awesome and a very useful thing to have for off TV play and when used right added to the games. The problems is it's a red ocean console. Wii was blue ocean. DS in 2004 was blue ocean. Wii U does offer what the DC was unable to in 1999. Red Ocean can work. Consoles mostly been working on that model. That's why you need heavy marketing and string of games to keep gamers happy. Nintendo's mistake is thinking the Gamepad is blue ocean and thought that slone like Wii would push consoles out by the millions. Now Nintendo is playing catch up.
Do any of the 3 offer an innovation. Yes and no. Sony and Nintendo do they offer a large part of it but not where you may think. It's the indie scene. In fact steam just made this big deal about letting devs set sale prices but Eshop already let devs do that for a long while before Steam. The guy Manny I did the interview with has told me in many ways Steam undercuts devs but now less so because of that feature that Eshop already had. Nintendo with Unity deal is massive. Sony is not the Sony of the PS2 era grabbing devs by the balls and punching em because they could and give ultimatums. The difference here between Sony and Nintendo is Nintendo has this stigma attached to them that some AAA devs attach to Nintendo and avoid them. Sony 3rd party games do better. Flat out. Indie games seem to be doing well on Wii U.
MS. Will I end up with a XBO..likely as I did with 360 and OX. Problem with MS is I feel they are no longer relevent as a console company. People can debate if they lose money or not but this is where I come from. Xbox Live a dated model. Some still loyal to it but I don't get why even when I had gold. Few 1st party and even those come to PC. 3rd party games are on PS4 or PC anyway. Wii U has indie games,Nintendo's first party and often some hidden gem 3rd party games. PS4 offeres the best multiplat of consoles. Has a strong enough following for it;s 1st party games.
Innovation maybe a strong word but PS4 and WiiU offer something. XBO quite honestly offers nothing you can;t gte somewhere else and better.
