Koji Igarashi, best known for his work on Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, has left Konami. His last day at the Japanese developer was Saturday, March 15.

The producer departed the studio with intent to open a new development studio.

"I've decided to break out on my own to have the freedom to make the kind of games I really want to make -- the same kind I think fans of my past games want as well," Igarashi told IGN. "Leaving Konami was a big decision, and not one I took lightly – I’ve spent my entire career there, made many friends, and had a lot of great opportunities – but I hope all the gamers and fans who have supported me in the past will join me in being excited about what comes next. Wish me luck!”

And another one gone.

Practically the only talent left in big game publishing houses today are the marketing teams.

It's funny because it's true. This does make me wonder though what  Konami will do with the Castlevania IP now. I know tons of fans were wanting another Igavania. Meh, they'll probably just let it die.

Honestly think he ran his forumula for the series dryer than Activision does with it's series. I liked his style but prefered largely the older style CV games. LoS was great but the series was only meant to be 3 games and the other didn't quite pan out as well as hoped. CV series is probably dead now and still a shame to see him go but this is true of the big Japanese devs is little talent is left.

What's funny tho is some of the guys at the western office of Capcom are the reason strider and the other remakes and older series came back with Capcom. Some of the western guys there get it better than the Japanese side. Konami man I miss that jingle from the SNES era as like the old Capcom jingle when you hear it you knew it was quality.

If Capcom hired a 3rd Party to make Mega Man X9 with a ridiculous amount of content, they would be fine.
