Throwing a Bomb = an attempt of murder meaning the woman wanted to kill her

Throwing a Shoe = an attempt of harm meaning the woman was showing hatred

2 completely different things! I shouldn't go to jail for murder because I slapped someone in the face.

America is a weird place indeed.

It's the thought of it though. Yes she threw a shoe, but what if it was a bomb. They have to act accordingly to make an example that if someone throws something, they will not get away with it. She's a political figure. If we allow someone to just throw a shoe at her we should be making it a sport.

Uh, NO.

Definitely NO.

Then shoes should not be allowed on planes. Because what if they WERE bombs. Something as essential as the object in question isn't something you can change/disregard to make a point in a situation like this. that's why in the legal system they differentiate between assault and assault with a deadly weapon.

The people who keep saying "America is a weird place, indeed." (You know who you are.) amuse me.

Aren't most laws and cultures weird to outsiders? I mean, I can understand you thinking this is weird, and I'm not saying this situation represents 'murica, but I think you'd be more surprised by some other laws, with cultures less like yours.

Anyway, since this has almost nothing to do with the actual subject:

Shoes are nasty. Don't throw them at people or you'll go to jail.

I don't think America is weird I think America is stupid there's a big difference there, as weird is subjective, stupidity is objective.

People in USA go to prison for having a street fight, 2 people hate each other, they fight, they get arrested for it, even tho they both agreed to only harm each other, In Britain the police would break it up and send you home. Makes sense to me!

heck there's still states there that don't allow gays to live there yet interspecies love is perfectly fine! Or go to prison because you said the word terrorist or bomb on a plane.

To me that is weird, very weird. there's more examples but I think you get my point. Shoes harm people, lets throw them in prison for throwing one at someone.

This guy gets it!!! Just because it's a shoe doesn't mean it was a bomb!

It would have bearly done damage to her, probably the worst what would have happened is a headache! This is something which should get a $100 fine. Not prison time! That's overkill if you ask me.

She attacked her with a shoe, she loses $100, fair deal! Not jail.

Herp Derp. Gather one and all. For the low low price of just 100$ you get a free shot at the political figure of your choice. Note: Shoes only.

Are you guys kidding me? So anyone can just throw shoes at a political figure and they just get a slap on the wrist? Do you realize how many haters they have? Ridiculous. I don't think there's any country stupid enough to let this kind of thing slide. If that was the rule there would be absolutely no respect for leaders because anyone with 100 bucks could throw shoes or rotten tomatoes at them. Nice.

Chrop, imagine what would happen if someone threw a shoe at your beloved figurehead "monarchs".  Would they get a slap on the wrist if the queen was pelted in the face with a shoe?

I would be ok with this. I don't wear shoes most of the time anyway. What I'm trying to say though is that even if it was just a joke, it was still a threat. I'm not saying that the shoe was a bomb, but in that situation, they could have gotten away with throwing one at her. Just replace the shoe with a bomb and poof, death everywhere... and blood.

I think Chrop said this as well, bu I'm not sure.

I'm not saying there should be no punishment. Maybe a hefty fine, but prison time is completely ridiculous. Getting locked away with murderers rapists and who knows what else because you threw. a. shoe.

I'm not justifying our broken system, but when a figurehead is "attacked", there will be consequences.

Do you expect any country to go easy on you for assaulting a political figurehead?

Also people who pirate movies, end up drunk or DUI on the road, and etc end up in those same prisons.  If you're upset about a woman getting sent to jail for assaulting a political figure, you should be enraged when someone downloads something and gets sent to jail.

That's what happens, and if it's not a fine it's community service for a few weeks. That's how things work over here

Also it's put on your record for assault, so yes you can pay £100 and get out of there but it's gonna be on the record for a long time, won't go well when looking for jobs.

Like I said before, sending someone to prison for it is overkill and unfair.

You've almost thought about considering taking into the account the "who", but you're not taking into account the "when" and the "where".

the "Who" part shouldn't even matter (shouldn't being key word here, I know for a fact it does matter, but I believe it shouldn't), Also how does "When" and "Where" take into place? It shouldn't matter when I threw the shoe at someone or where, it doesn't effect anyone else unless you threw it in a very crowded place where it could miss your target and hit someone else.

You live in the UK, think Crime and Disorder Act 1998.

I don't know much about the Act, but of what I've read of it, I absolutely know NOTHING of the act, also there's a ton to read, so I'm just gonna end this debate here.
