Nintendo’s marketing campaign for Mario Kart 8 will run until the end of the year, the firm says.

It is already underway with a social media programme designed to get gamers nostalgic about classic Mario Kart moments.

This will lead into a launch campaign, which includes online and TV activity and will run from May 30th (the game’s launch) right up until the end of the year.

I'll believe it when I see it. If this campaign is anything like the rest of their marketing so far then that means a once in a blue moon commercial on TV.

If they're saying what I want them to say, there going to move consoles.

I agree 100%. I was seeing Titanfall commercials months before it was released. This being a good chance for them to try and jump-start Wii U we should have heard and seen more.

I haven't seen a Wii U ad since its launch in Australia, and have seen a few 3DS ads. Hopefully this year long marketing campaign includes Australia.

Don't hold your breath on that one. I am curious to see what their "marketing" will be like.

I know, but it'd be so great if they did advertise. I know a bunch of people that would have already jumped on a Wii U if they had known MK8 exists.

Hopefully they don't mean one ad a month, they need to market this aggressively.

They're starting the tv ads on the day it launches? Seems silly to me advertise before it launches for the biggest launch possible.

I don't see this working...

How is that silly. I'm order to have an effective marketing campaign it needs to start before the product is released and on the day. This puts awareness in people's minds and hopefully will get them to preorder the product. Starting on the release day is not going to be as effective.

It's in the UK. Nintendo systems just don't really sell in the UK.

I hope this advertisement campaign helps boost sales of the Wii U in the UK.

Think if I added up all the Titanfall commercials it would have equaled one month of real time :)

Not necessarily... Nintendo probably wants it to be an impulse purchase so that people buy it and enjoy it before realizing that gamespot and co is rainbowting on it with their terrible reviews.

That's not how companies look at it. Marketing of a product typically starts before its released and for good reason.
