Confirming a world of suspicions, Warner Bros. has announced that the long-rumoured Justice League of America movie will follow 2016's Batman vs. Superman, and Zack Snyder is on board to direct.

In an interview with The Wall Street Journal, Warner Bros. president of worldwide production Greg Silverman announced that the movie will be directed by Bats vs. Supes helmer Snyder, and Henry Cavill (Superman), Ben Affleck (Batman) and Gal Gadot (Wonder Woman) are all expected to return.

“It will be a further expansion of this universe,” explained Silverman. “Superman vs Batman will lead into Justice League."

It's a ways off, however: the JLA script is currently still in development and the film is unlikely to open before 2018.

Well, I don't know what to make of this.

I would say "Please don't let it suck", but let's be honest...

Congrats to Marvel on winning the comic book movie war.

As much as I want to be positive about this I really can't be, didn't like Man of Steel much and if the rest of the DC movies follow it's path I'll be sticking with Marvel for superhero movies. Still annoyed by that tornado scene....

The problem is that WB saw the success of the "serious" or "dark" Nolan Batman films and have decided that's what audiences want from all comic book films.

Justice League will be the same as Man of Steel; boring. Not only that but we are getting characters who have never even been introduced before just thrown into a 2 hour film together which is a recipe for disaster when it comes to character development.

Bingo. Going 'dark' works with Batman because he is by far one of the darkest super heroes in the DC universe. Personally I'm kinda meh on the Nolan films anyways but the point remains the same. Superman isn't supposed to be dark and edgy. He's Superman, he's the antithesis of that. He's a symbol of all that's good in the world, the unstoppable force of good against evil.

Also, it's obvious that the only thing WB learned from the Avengers build up was that a big superhero mash up movie CAN make big bucks. Unfortunately they seemed to have skimmed over the fact that Marvel spent literally years building up to it by giving practically every character their own movie and/or cameo. Who have had movies in this? Superman, Batman will in the Batman vs Superman movie, and Wonder Woman who is just being shoehorned in to the movie. WTF!

Wonder Woman is one of the biggest parts of the Justice League but she can't even get her own movie? What? Is pseudo-Greek mythology not big enough for a motion picture? Norse mythology seemed to work just fine. They could make an amazing Wonder Woman movie and that's not even mentioning all the others. Green Lantern, Aquaman (they could go REAL dark with Aquaman since he doesn't have a no-kill rule), Flash, etc. So yeah, this is gonna bomb.

Batman is one of the darkest heroes in both DC and Marvel in my opinion. I still remember reading a certain ark where this person kill someone, cuts their face off and wears it as a mask... stuff scarred me to this day.

Also, you're not alone in thinking the Batman movies by Nolan were meh. I still await a Batman movie that shows the incredibly intelligent, detective side of him all the comic readers love instead of just gadgets and fighting and explosions.

The only good thing I can really see coming out of this JL movie is a Flash movie, and chances of that are incredibly slim. Chances of it being good if it does happen are even slimmer ;_;

Man, I REALLY want a good Flash movie. He's got so much dad-gummed potential for one...
