I keep trying to register my name, and it seems to think that my email addresses aren't real... Any idea on how to get past that?

Did you install this?

Why would she use mirc to get into a single channel that likely won't last long?
use a webclient like rizon's official one.
It has popups that explain everything when you try to register a nick

Do I really need to change the IRC back so that unregistered users can join?

EDIT: Alright, the IRC is open to non-registered users now.  I might ask you to register, but if you can't learn, I'm too soft not to give up on you yet.

But you will need to be a registered user in order to be an op or halfop.

It's fine to use the Web based or browser extension clients. Clients like mIRC are more useful for sharing files and using XDCC (which you're not going to be doing on our irc (but you can use it to automatically kill other users who may try to take your nickname).

I solved my own problem. Me being the big dumb idiot I am, I was putting my email inside the carrots instead of just writing it on its own. You can blame my brain for thinking it was some sort of kinda-sorta-maybe-almost HTML thing.

Oh, okay, let me just download this origin, and steam client so I can play Mario Kart 8.
They just want to "talk", ie spam dots and racism, why would they need to download anything?
Nobody uses xdcc for sharing files, they use it to get anime from xdcc bots, and mirc is utterly rainbow at doing that.
XDcc isn't how you kill users with your nick, that's nickserv disconnecting/changing their nick for you.

I was unclear on "it", but I meant you can set up mirc to kill users with your nick automatically.

I was unclear on "it", but I meant you can set up mirc to kill users with your nick automatically.

That's a nickserv option

SET KILL
Syntax: /msg NickServ SET KILL {ON | QUICK | IMMED | OFF}

Syntax: SET KILL {ON | QUICK | IMMED | OFF}

Turns the automatic protection option for your nick
on or off. With protection on, if another user
tries to take your nick, they will be given one minute to
change to another nick, after which NickServ will forcibly change
their nick.

If you select QUICK, the user will be given only 20 seconds
to change nicks instead of the usual 60. If you select
IMMED, user's nick will be changed immediately without being
warned first or given a chance to change their nick; please
do not use this option unless necessary. Also, your
network's administrators may have disabled this option.
