Depends. If I wanted to make easy money I'd do what Nintendo is already doing: squeezing every last penny out of a couple franchises, consoles, and games that people buy over and over.

Like any journalism site would ever accept money to do something like that.

I would change the present ludicrous console based DRM, which i just found out first hand, is the most, stupid, respect killing, soul destroying, DRM system ever to be imaged and implemented, that forces loyal, honest customers to jump through a myriad of unnecessary hoops to get access to content they paid for.

Is he talking about making games tied to an account rather than hardware and crossbuy? If that then yeah we all agree on that.
The post however makes little sense. Like 3Dude I am a physical games kind of guy tho I do buy some digital but nothing more than 10-15$. Usually less than that. I have no issues downloading the games and playing them after purchase. I mean if you want to attack a company for DRM go after Valve with steam when GOG doesn't do DRM and that's PC.

Provide the facts behind your emotional rant. IE what are you talking about?
As a collector, i typically am strictly physical, and know little about digital games on nintendo or other consoles.
What little I do buy and download, I have no.problem accessing after the background handled download and install.
So what are these rights of mine nintendo is restrictively managing digitally that i am unaware of?
Wii-u became faulty just after the 12 month warranty expired, so via courier sent to Nintendo to get repaired, console went missing, and so it begain.
Bought another Wii-u and contacted Nintendo to see about getting all my digital content back, this also included alomst 4 years of Wii digital content transferred from my old wii to my now missing Wii-u, phone support were no help, no way to get anything back without the console, but we will look into it and get back to you, 4 weeks went by and nothing, phoned them again and nobody knows anything about the issue.
Now went and gave email support a try, and again unless i had the console or serial number unlinking my NNID from the missing console would be impossible, email back and forth for another three weeks, eventually got my local trading standards involved, this seemed to have been the push that they needed because the next day i got a email asking for my NNID, this was followed every few days by emails asking for a list of digital content, payment detail, payment methods used, personal information, then nothing until this week, almost 3 months after the original Wii-u went missing, i was told my Wii-U NNID was unlinked and i would be able to link it to my new WII-u, good news at least.
Now the bad news, all my bought and paid for digital wii content that was transferred from my original wii to the Wii-u is gone, no way to get it back, so sorry, bye bye,....... plus my 25 quid wii-u fit monitor is now a 25 quid paper weight as it is linked to the original wii-u hardware, and there is no way to unlink it without said Wii-u, so i have had to simply buy another one.
So at the end of the day, through no fault of my own, i have been unable to use any of my Wii-iu digital for almost 3 months, i have lost all of my wii digital content totally, and i am 20 quid down on another Wii-u fit meter while i have one here that works perfectly but only on a faulty missinig system.
If Nintendo had a decent account based system for content and hardware i would have, 3 months ago, been enjoying all my wii-u and wii content without too much fuss, which in my view is not really asking a lot.

Well technically that's an issue with the shipping, customer management and account linking.
But yeah, all are very bad. And I don't think there's a single fan who doesn't think the system needs a change. Most of us are lucky enough that this sort of thing doesn't bother us very often, so I guess that's why it doesn't come up a lot.
Anyway sorry you had to go through that. Incredibly crappy. I guess they wouldn't even give you some free Wii game codes or something?

If I was in charge of Nintendo I would at least make an attempt at making a Nintendo console the center of everyone's living room for once.
I would call that new console "Nintendo HD, Wii 2, or Wii HD" and it would have Blu-ray, hardware as powerful as the Xbox One and PS4, and a classic controller instead of an "innovated" one. Achievements or trophies like PSN, Live, and Steam. I still can't believe this wasn't shipped along with the Wii U...
Ultimately this "Wii 2" would have awesome new games like Destiny, Kingdom Hearts 3, and GTA V and I would bring out a brand new IP not because I don't love classic Nintendo games but because why not introduce something that would attract the less die-hard Nintendo fans?

If I was in carge of Nintendo, I would partner or some form of agreement with Blackberry so I'd have access to QNX and their networking expertise. Or at the bare minimum steal key employees from them and similar companies. Many of the fundamental flaws in their systems stem from limited or incomplete software and cloud services. heck, the Wii U was built and ready to ship way before the OS ready to go. Blackberry has a powerful Kernel that is highly flexible and real-time, meaning it could be put into a gaming console with the smoothest gaming possible and excellent high-level APIs and developement kits. And Blackberry has ben working a long time on network stuff and could dramatically improve account management and online multiplayer reliablility. Nintendo might have to help Blackberry get into the Japanese market but oh well. I'm sure the corporates would love a Nintendo-branded buisness phone that can play their entire virtual console library.

If I were in charge of Nintendo:
1) I would localise japanese titles.
2) Cut the prices; 60€ (80$) is too expensive for a game.
3) Make Club Nintendo and prepaid cards available to all the countries that have an eshop.
4) Make HD remakes of Nintendo's most popular titles.
5)Make Wii U more powerful so it can play next gen titles.
6) Make all the consoles and games region free.
7) Make polls about which sequels people would like to play
and foremost listen to my fans!!!!!

If i ran Nintendo i would buy Capcom and Crytec to attract the ''hardcore'' audiences.
Make a NNID App that would have the e-shop on it.
Make 50$ gift cards
Create a new home console for 2016 that focus's more new cutting edge graphics but still holds the Nintendo charm the graphics are to attract 3rd party developers and new audiences who bring in money, Nintendo to showcase 3 high graphic but quality games one of with a Metriod game to show off the power of the new console
and a new hand held console that has some compatibility with the new console.
Nintendo to create this console with valve and then they takeover the world and create the greatest thing since my little pony, but seriously valve and Nintendo combo would be the greatest thing in the world

Also, ITT: Why it's a good thing Nintendo fans don't run Nintendo.
The money spent developing the GamePad alone and producing it could have been spent on better hardware or reducing the cost of the console.
If I could change things right now I would start by selling remastered collections for Zelda, Metroid, Mario, etc. This would move Wii Us off the shelves incredibly fast. Just look at how popular the Master Chief Collection is for the Xbox One and the remastered version of The Last of Us is for the PS4.
If that isn't possible at least sell downloadable GameCube and Nintendo 64 games on the eShop.
