I have been a Wii U owner for about a week thus far and I really like the system. I have since purchased a 2TB external HD as well as 8 games (digitally) from the eshop but I have noticed that the eshop is lacking in titles as far as quantity is concerned. Is there a option to install games onto the Wii U's HD or a External HD from the retail disc? At this point it appears that people who wish to own physical copies have more options as far as games. I desire to own a completely digital library but it seems that I am on the short end of the stick.
Has anyone heard anything regarding Nintendo's plans to either expand its digital library or to allow its player base to install games from the retail disc?
Thanks in advance.

All nintendo Wii u games are avilable digitally.

Third party games are up to third parties, Nintendo wont force them to make their games available digitally.

I do not think the ability to upload a digital copy of your retail game will be made available due to Nintendo's... unique brand of piracy concerns.

Also not exactly legal, and could possibly kill your Wii U.

The closest thing that I can think of is that the 3DS has an app that lets you transfer your storage from a digital copy of a game to a hard copy of a game, don't know if the Wii U has the same thing...

(If you do find something like this, I would recommend selling the digital version later on or something)

the wii u doesn't break your discs, so installing a game from a disc would end only in piracy.

What the 3DS has is an app that transfers the game save from the 3DS game cartridge to the 3DS itself. it requires you to already have the game downloaded so it has a location to download the save to. it's a moot point on the Wii U as the game save is already on the console and does not change when you buy and install the digital version of the game.

I'm not sure how the OP feels the digital titles are "lacking".  If anything, it's the reverse: a handful of games are NOT available on the eShop.  Those games aren't even Nintendo games, as all Nintendo games are on the eShop!
