http://evolvegame.com/

Coming to PC, Xbox One and PS4 February 10.

From Turtle Rock Studios, creators of Left 4 Dead, comesEvolve, the next generation of multiplayer shooters where four Hunters face off against a single, player-controlled Monster in adrenaline-pumping 4v1 matches. Play as the Monster to use savage abilities and an animalistic sense to kill your human enemies, or choose one of four Hunter classes (Assault, Trapper, Medic and Support) and team up to take down the beast on the planet Shear, where flora and fauna act as an adversary to man and monster alike. Level up to unlock new Hunter or Monster characters as well as upgrades, skins, and perks. Earn your infamy on the leaderboards and become the apex predator.

The Beta is coming up on the 16th for PC and PS4, for Xbox One it's a bit earlier and they get access to some more features than the other platforms (unfortunately). I've pre-ordered the game so that I get the fourth monster DLC and some bonus skins. I played a lot of the alpha so I'm looking forward to the beta and official release now.

There is no word on Mac support yet and I wouldn't say it's all that likely either. Mac really isn't ideal for gaming.

EDIT: Actually confirmed it wont be on Mac: https://talk.turtler...-support/1248/2

Looks like it might be fun, hope it will have L4D's feel. Didn't the beta come out months ago?

That was the alpha (they referred to it as the 'Big Alpha'). The beta is this Friday, although the official release is just around the corner on the 10th of February.

It doesn't feel that much like L4D, more like a big tank battle if anything. A more fleshed out tank battle but for the most part a boss fight where the boss is controlled by another player. It's a lot of fun playing as the monster and it can be quite challenging against a good hunter team. There was only one game mode in the alpha, not sure about the PC and PS4 beta but I think the Xbox One beta is getting more than one game mode.

Left 4 Dead supports mac, so I'm hoping later down the line so will Evolve. At the same time, Payday still doesn't have mac support.

I was interested by the concept, but the DLC content crap they're pulling is making me wait.

I was, until they began the pre order for planned dlc content thats really just rainbow from the main game thats been compartmentalized and sold off seperately unicorn tongue.

I will not support companies that engage in this behavior. I'll buy it used. Preferably a used version that already has all the 'dlc' for the year already on a single disc.

Teaser trailer for the fourth monster, the Behemoth, that is a pre-order bonus and future DLC:

I gotta say, I'm glad I pre-ordered. I like this monster's design the most.

Left 4 Dead supports mac, so I'm hoping later down the line so will Evolve. At the same time, Payday still doesn't have mac support.

That's due to L4D being a Valve game with Steam having Mac support Valve wanted to get things rolling by adding Mac support for their games but only some devs see it as worthwhile in adding this support, same with Linux support. Hopefully for you they decide to add Mac support in the future but it's not all that likely at this point.

I was interested by the concept, but the DLC content crap they're pulling is making me wait.

I bought a copy from here for Steam:

http://www.nuuvem.co...uto/2462-evolve

Cost me about $45 Australian Dollars. For the full game with the pre-order bonuses that's a damn good deal.

If you wait too long in the hope of a GOTY edition with all the DLC then you'll miss out on when the playerbase is at its peak and this game is all about the multiplayer, unless the GOTY picks up the playerbase to a good enough level again or it maintains its players for long enough it just depends on how well they support the game and the community. The pricing of the DLC is definitely steep, $15 USD and probably more here in Australia it seemed like a better decision to just pre-order it.

Without the DLC there's plenty of content. I'm pretty sure the DLC is just the fourth monster and a skin, at least it is for PC and PS4 but for Xbox One it unlocks things characters and things that are supposed to be unlocked from playing the game which is not even a pre-order bonus if you ask me. Sure it would be better if they just gave us all the content, especially for the high asking price, but I ordered it on Steam (link above) for $45 so I can't really complain. They have gotten a lot of flak for their decisions regarding the DLC so I wouldn't be too surprised if they reduced the price of the DLC.

The asking price for the full game is definitely high and to add day one DLC on top of that is asking a lot but at the same time I think there's a good amount of content with all the hunters and the three monsters that you'd have got your money's worth by the time you unlock everything then either waiting or giving in and getting the extra DLC. I can't say it's something I support publishers doing but I'm not really one to complain when I got it for $45.

No, its kind of sad people let these publishers get away with recieving full payment for releasing fractions of games, broken, that dont work the day you buy it, and then selling you the rest of the game you already paid full price for peicemeal, because people like you are REWARDING THEM for disgusting anti consumer behavior.

And people wonder why videogames have turned to rainbow.

I play monster hunter.

It comes complete the day I buy it, with 30-50 monsters (The west now simply recieves the g version, or 'ultimate'), guaranteed it works the instant I insert the disc/cartridge it has WAY more than twice the content, for half the price of this.

I will not support this, or reward this behavior, nor inadvertantly punish these devs, by rewarding this publishers behavior so they can be further abused by the AAAAAAAA dev crushing crap factory dev abuse cycle. I will not reward take 2 for acting like EA.

While I only paid $45 for the pre-order version and the content that gave me which is plenty of content and a good deal I'm much more in agreement with you now that they've announced these new DLC packs... They're really angering their consumers with these decisions and I didn't realise it was so bad until I looked at the updated Steam page to see this:

7YbeTkF.png

I'm looking forward to the game itself and the content I get for $45 is still a good amount but to get all this DLC afterward is going to be a lot of money on this one game. I guess I'll have to wait until a Steam sale or hope that a site like nuuvem sells the DLC for cheap. Paying full price that it is going for here on Australian Steam is way too much, not sure the exact price on the US or Europe but I know it's an expensive ass game overall.

Sounds cool, but I'm probably gonna buy Monster Hunter 4 and wait on Evolve, I'm done buying games blindly. Unless the beta persuades me otherwise

You know, When I just got a free demo for Mh4, and that Demo has more content than a game with 134 bucks worth of pre planned DLC, you know you are looking at some AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA unicorn tongue.

Evolve is pretty uh, terrible, in my opinion. I've been playing the Beta and haven't had much fun with it. There is so little content, and the full game doesn't seem to have much more. I'm with 3dude, even the MH4 demo has more content than this game. It's sad, because it looked so promising during its reveal. Basically, I was looking forward to it until I played the Beta, which turned me off completely.

Played both demos.

It definitely looks better in pictures.

The graphics aren't all that.

It's difficult to tell what you're doing and the controls aren't that great.

And it gets boring very fast.

Some pretty cheap ways to die also.

Hopefully it turns out better.

But in my little opinion, this game isn't much of anything other than cool looking monsters.

What platform are you playing it on? You're criticising the beta for lacking content... It's a BETA. The full game has more monsters, more maps, more hunters and more game modes.

How did you feel about the gameplay? You only mentioned it apparently lacking content.

What platform were you playing on? On PC it looks as great as it does in official screenshots.

The controls are fine... Not sure what issue you have with them.

What did you find boring about it?

Not sure what cheap ways to die there are.

My main criticism of the game from beta would be that the Wraith is OP. Very hard to beat a competent Wraith player.

Xbox One. Even for a Beta, the content was extremely limited. I expected more from a 2x gig file. The full game doesn't seem to be doing any better, since they're selling away everything else through DLC. Gameplay was decent, but nothing I would be comfortable paying full price for. It actually grew rather repetitive. Anyway, this is my opinion, obviously. I personally dropped this game from my must haves.
