I don't know if trusting reviews will be a good idea, considering the mold of what shooters "should be" today, i can see many places giving it a bad review.
but you can trust the good reviews :-)

anyway, day 1 for me, amiibos I'm not going to hold my breath

i'll watch many videos reviews, read quiet a few, and see if any of my friends will pick it up and see if they enjoy it

Well, "Splatoon has no voice chat and never will" according to the developers. They say online shooters have trash talk and don't want to be associated with that kind of thing.

I say its utterly ridiculous and highlights Nintendo's stone age mentality about these things, people like talking online OR having the option to mute annoying players themselves. The gamepad which has a built in mic is the only control option (if I'm not mistaken) so you cant even chat online with your buddies either.

Seriously Nintendo...

While I expected no voice chat for a while now, it is disappointing as we know there are many ways it could have been implemented in a useful and fair way, especially with friends. It seems Nintendo has taken a step back ever since the swap note troubles and are overly protective, imo.

I think they tried their best to make voice chat unneeded. I think it would be fine, but it would be nice if it at least supported generic phrases.

Instead of updating parental controls due to incidents involving pedophiles using the 3DS to contact children Nintendo thought that removing features was a better idea. As horrible as it was and as safe a choice for Nintendo, they just took the easy way out at the expense of the rest of their users.

Let's be honest though; who is using parental controlls? I would say almost nobody. When i was 11/12 years old, i could play what i want on my N64. Imagine i could use online fuctions back then...

If you had a N64DD you could go online. Maybe just to download DLC for Mario Paint DD.

It's not just the child's responsibility to keep themselves safe but also their parents especially with the technology of today, they need to learn how to use it if they want to be a responsible parent.

Perhaps, I am wondering though at the time, if Swap Note would of required you to sign in with a NNID, this very well may not even have happened. Just because the sick individual would have known he could be easily found out... he was anyways but it would have been even easier.
