Avast, CCleaner, Malwarebytes

^^^ Install all three of those they work great in tandem. Avast gets things Malewarebytes can't and vice versa.

Yeah, just installed Avast and Malwarebytes. Seems to do the trick.

Also be more careful in browsing habits. The best way to prevent stuff is safe browsing.

Just avoid those porn sites and shady sites. If you get a pop up don't click on it at all. Don't click to close it either. That's another way they get you. Simply right click on your taskbar to close it instead.Don't open attachments unless you know who it's from and know they were sending it to you. DO NOT USE Cnet downloads as it's riddled with malware and such. They still not fixed that after 2 years.

I haven't gotten a virus in several years from watching my browsing habits. Stick to reputable sites, use adblocker and only disable it for sites you can come to trust. If you don't want to worry about browsing habits you'll have to buy a premium virus/malware/spyware/ protection program(s). I got ransomware before and that's what really made me take browsing habits seriously.

If you are still having trouble despite these programs installed then either you browse some sites you should not be or it's really in that machine.

 

Reformat. Wipe it all reinstall windows and such.

I'm not having any more problems. They worked really well, that's why I was inquiring.

Swap Avast for Bitdefender free edition. Avast has become bloatware. You don't need to buy them, but you will get more advanced features like real time protection with mbytes.
