Good morning, everyone!

It is currently 9:52 10:15 10:37 PM. I've got work in the morning.

Regardless, something drew me here. Something compelled me to log in, post a status update and make this very topic. Probably nostalgia.

Definitely nostalgia.

The Wii U is almost 7 years old. That's the age of the average first-grader in the US. I feel like it didn't necessarily flop, though it didn't fare too well compared to the Xbox One and the PS4.

I still have my Wii U. It's kinda collecting dust nowadays. I still have the Animal Crossing Plaza, though the service has long since been discontinued.

I'm still kinda bummed that a proper Animal Crossing title wasn't released on the Wii U.

At some point I got my hands on a Switch, but nowadays I don't have enough free time to sit down and enjoy the titles.

At the time of writing, Nintendo confirmed a mainline Animal Crossing title coming out on the Switch this year. I'm looking forward to that.

I never considered myself to be a prolific member. I wished people happy birthdays and shared positive opinions on things. I acquainted myself with the kind members here and have forgotten to make contact with people.

Oh man, it's been everyone's birthday.

I finally graduated from college with a BS in Computer Science. It turns out that I find programming to be very dull.

I've been building a lot of computers in the meantime. I find that to be pretty fun, at least.

I might just go back and get an art degree.

My degree did, however, land me a nice job that has nothing to do with programming.

I've been learning video editing on the side as a hobby. I want to use what I learned in order to make a video on the history of WUF. I'm by no means an OG member, and it's going to require me to do a whole lotta reading on topics made before I even joined the forum. But I think it would be a fun undertaking.

The target demographic might be a little niche.

I'd like to make it and have it published on the 7th anniversary of the Wii U's US release.

---

It's kinda weird seeing that I'm the only soul on this website right now, at this time. A few guests, though I suspect all of them to be web crawlers.

It's wild to think of all the fun conversations that were had on this website. A whole lotta years have gone by since this website was considered totally dead, and I can't even imagine where everyone has gone and what fun exploits they've achieved in life since then.

I've kinda disappeared of the face of the Earth. I don't use any social media, nor have I been active in any other communities. It sometimes feels like I'm getting a little too old or too jaded to be participating in gaming communities. I've been wanting to do Twitch streams, but my anxiety has stopped me short of hitting the "start streaming" button in OBS.

I've experienced quite a few rough patches in my life. Despite that, my signature holds true.

I'm kinda drunk. I love you guys. My Discord is Tom Pls#2986.

I have kept an "eye" on things, which has basically just been an occasional glance one a week or so when I have been logged out. But activity has been so minimal to the point where there isn't really a point of my "required presence". I still feel a little guilty about how I mismanaged things now & then, but the past is the past. I am forever connected to internet forums due to my early years of being infected by a mid 2000's yoshi art forum, so as long as this site breathes, I will find myself back here regardless.

I don't know if anybody here will actually be able to find my "other" personas elsewhere on the web, I "retired" the Pyro/Mourn pseudonym a while back (outside of maybe my steam username).

I can PM you my discord. I don't use it often, but I kind of need to now that IRC is dead.

Hey Mourn, how ya doin? ;)

We need a reunion or something for this site.

Also, who is paying for this website still? I'm surprised it hasn't been taken down yet...

I don't know what prompted me to check this site again. It hadn't entered my thoughts for some time, perhaps over a year? Coming back here, I can't believe it's still up. I can't believe people are still posting (however periodically).

This forum was such a massive part of my early teenage years. I still remember telling my year 7 friends how cool the second screen was, why it was gonna get tons of third party support, and why it was actually more powerful than the ps3 and 360 but developers just weren't utilising it correctly.

This was the first forum I ever joined. Probably my first addiction as I was constantly checking this place for news. This place was the first website I went to frequently, having only got my own laptop at the age of 12, coinciding with the hype cycle for the Wii U perfectly. I didn't even follow gaming news until this site happened. I used to just go into EB games and see new games, basing their worth off their box like a foolish child. Then my brother told me Nintendo had announced their next console thing, and he wasn't even sure of it's name. So I looked into it, and found this site in my search.

I feel like I was one of the younger people on this forum. In fact I'm still a teenager, for 19 days. It's weird looking back on this site that I joined before I was a teenager, as I'm about to turn 20.

This site gave me a sense of community that I never got from any other website. I had some idea of the personalities of every major poster on this site. It was like watching a sitcom with well defined characters. I still use Reddit (used to use NeoGaf until it imploded and I realised it was time to move on from gaming somewhat), but Reddit doesn't give me that. It's so rare to see a username I recognise on Reddit. The anonymity has it's benefits, don't get me wrong, but it's much harder to get invested when it's a place where nobody would ever notice your absence.

As for me, I've stopped looking into gaming news as much. I'm becoming more and more like my pre-teen self, finding out about new games by walking into stores rather than hearing 50 leaks 3 years in advance. In some ways I appreciate that more than having announcements spoiled for me. I still watch Nintendo Directs, but haven't stayed up to watch one at 1am since this forum died. It's just not the same without the community aspect.

I've grown up.

Finished high school.

Had a relationship.

Broke up.

Suffered crippling anxiety for around a year afterwards.

Overcame my anxiety almost completely.

Had a somewhat successful basketball stint.

Got injured, over and over and over.

Eventually one of my injuries was too severe for me to return and I haven't played in two years (still haven't fully recovered, but I'm taking actions to increase my movement (yes, I know I should have done this earlier, but I was in the mindset that nothing could stop me and my injuries would all just get better on their own, and they had up until that point)).

I've started at university now. Mechatronics.

Built a robot.

Did not enjoy building the robot.

Now I'm studying Cyber Security.

Have an exam today.

Currently procrastinating.

I miss this site.

I love you all.

i'm doing alright, more or less. let's just say that i'm doing as well as i am willing to let on, lmao.

I don't know how I feel about a reunion, lol, this site had a lot of colorful characters. You can still find some of them offsite and elsewhere.

Feld0 is keeping the site up and I don't think he would be the sort of person to suddenly drop it without notice. There is still an unfinished story I might need to tell sometime about that, lol. Years back, on the previous forum Feld0 & I were members, the admin threatened to shut down the site multiple times & ultimately followed through with his threat, without anyone having much of a chance to back up anything.

Ouch. It's weird to think that although everything on the internet seems to permanent, anything on there can disappear at a moment's notice.

This site was down for a period of time yesterday and I convinced myself it was gone forever.

Oh hey it's me.

I mostly stuck to the side sites but this place was always that weird drunk uncle to me and I liked checking it out. Fiery's stupid shenanigans (RIP papa bless), horchata doing cool drawings, fun drama to drink coffee to.

I wasn't really that close to you all but i think you all have my steam anyway. If you want my discord pm me, i play games and piano and stuff still.

That's scary lol, we should make a discord group chat or something for anyone interested.

Oh I agree, I was looking back at my old posts and man was I such a toxic character, I just want to formally apologize to anyone I hurt with my vulgar language and behaviour.

It's weird to think that this site is still up even though it's been dead for several years now... Like the Wii U (speaking of which, it got an update today!).

It's pretty nice to see the updates here. I remember I was still in school when this was active. :wesmart:

So, got off work. Get home, fed, showered, so on. ...Get a weird thought in the shower and next thing I know, I'm here.

Gotta admit I'm surprised to see the forums are up. Imagine my utter shock that not only are the forums up, but people are still posting. In 2019. And I remembered my login info somehow. AND THE LOGO IS STILL OFF CENTER

It's...kinda cool to see everyone here. Seeing people I recognize yet haven't talked to in ages- though Tom's popped up on my streams now and again, far and few between that they are.

What am I doing now? Well...not as much as I'd hoped.

It's been a long few years. Had a lot of familial upset, anxiety, self discovery in multiple ways. ...Yes, I still collect amiibos. I don't draw as much as I should, though the thought has never really left my mind that I need to practice. At the time I started an art thread nearly...damn, nearly five years ago to the day, I had a handful of artist friends that inspired me to draw and do better. Gradually, thosefriends seemed to go off to different things, hang with other people and whatnot. It's been kinda hard; It's partially my own doing, partially the hand life and other people have dealt me over the past while.

Been working at Lowes since the end of last February. That's...been a trip. Got tan, got some arm strength back, impressed the managers. They kept me on as a full time in lumber, which is a decent step up from seasonal outside garden help.

Still been playing games, too. Lots of PS3 n' 4 stuff, though I've dabbled with my brother's Switch now and again. Mario Odyssey was/is amazing, as is Zelda and Tetris 99. Just haven't been playing games as hard as I used to thanks to job and life stuff.

Kinda miss it here. Was nice to have a chat to pop into and jabber about video game whatever, there was such an...excitement around everything. Like there were limitless possibilities, like that Wreck It Ralph would surely run in real time on the Wii U. ...I can forget coworkers' names, but remember that.

In any case...ya'll made a 15 to 18 year old kid happy. You're even making him happy now. It was always a good time logging in to chat people up or share nonsense. I'm admittedly still trying to find the SMASHING thread I made forever ago, even if it's a bunch of dead links by now.

Yet at the same time, it almost breaks my heart to look back at my older posts. I can see a person that's not much younger than I am now, yet is very, very different compared to how I am now. But I guess that's what growing up does to you.

Halfway tempted to try and reboot the site. Give it a new coat of paint as the Switch forums or some such thing. But at the same time, I'm not sure if forums are really used anymore. GoNintendo is always quiet, 3DSF is gone completely. Even NintendoChitChat seems dead as a doornail outside of their Facebook page. But we'll see.

Anyway, that's my two cents without rambling on much longer.

If anyone wants to chat, my discord is Morkus#3744. I can't guarantee I'll be very chatty, but I can check it in the evenings when I'm off work.

Now go listen/watch my boy Jack Stauber: https://www.youtube....ser/JackStauber

Perhaps the funniest part of being on this forum is the fact that I never owned a Wii U.

Anyway, I'm around on the internet. Send me a message if you ever want to chat or reconnect (I do have a Switch, and would be happy to play a game of Super Smash Bros.)

Are any of you active on other forums?
