The next Xbox will ship to retailers in late October or early November of next year with six times the processing power of the Xbox 360, sources close to the project have told IGN.
Following initial reports from tech blogs Fudzilla and SemiAccurate, our sources have confirmed that mass production of the system's GPU will indeed begin by the end of 2012 but will not, however, be based on AMD's 7000 series Southern Islands GPU. Instead, the processor will be derived from the 6000 series, which was introduced last year. More specifically, it will be akin to the Radeon HD 6670, which offers support for DirectX11, multidisplay output, 3D and 1080p HD output. The chip currently has a market price of upwards of $79.99.

In real terms, the Xbox 720's raw graphics processing power is expected to be six times that of the Xbox 360 and will yield 20-percent greater performance than Nintendo's forthcoming console, the Wii U.
Developers are likely to receive development kits based on the system's final configuration in August. Projected pricing for the console was not provided.

Only downside would be if you have to pay then I'm heading to PS4

Well then! If it is just 20% then it isnt that bad! Plus we dont even know the specs for the Wii U! So for all that we know then they may as well be called equally as powerful.

If we go just by rumored GPU specs, then The Wii U will be as, or possibly even more powerful than Nextbox. With that said, GPU isn't everything, so we definitively have a fair fight on our hands.

Nintendo did a similar thing where a few months before E3 2011, they had that press release and Iwata told evferyone that a new console was coming, that it was powerful, and some vague specs were given out. I think Microsft saw the hype that vagueness gets so they decided to do the same pre-E3 thing Nintnedo did. Maybe.

Yeah but CPU isnt everything either. So if their GPU sux then their counsel wouldnt be the greatest either.

It says it will be 20% more powerful than the Wii U (which in itself would put it 5 times stronger than current gen)
but as earlier said, comparing the GPU of the Wii U and the 720 shows that the U's is at least 50% stronger.
However they modify them and do all sorts of things so who knows.

I really think it's just a rumour (proobly made by microsoft itself) just to take away some of the thunder of wii U's limelight.Considering that most console lifespan is only 5 years long and that's why it makes sense for Nintendo to unveil thier new gen.Sony and Microsoft have deliberately expanded thier console's lifespan with thier motion technology and so instead of creating a new console they have expanded thier lifespan.

Since Nintendo is the only true gaming company I personally think both Sony and Microsoft will use the wait and see approach to see the potiental of the tablet controll

I compaired the two and from what I saw, the Wii U's GPU specs DESTROYS that of the NextBox!
If what I was predicting, Microsoft going casual with a lower powered console, then this was expected.

I said that with the possibility that they went with the low end for smaller costs, but I do believe they went with the high end as well.

And them going casual would be like say "Forget all of the Hardcore gamers that got us where we are, THIS is where the money is."

Where's the logic?

I base my judgement on the fact that Microsoft is making a heap of money from their Kinect sales; it's working on their favour with the casual audience. I wouldn't be surprised if they go that route since that will make them the money (c'mon this is Microsoft we are talking about).
Still, this is a personal opinion amongst others that I am using to predict what Microsoft will be doing in the next generation.

some of you may know darkcloud1983, really clever, knows what hes talking about gaming tech head, he came out and made a video about this same topic, the next box's hardware and it being 20% more powerful than wii u. then me and a few other fans alerted him that the actual specs show the complete opposite implications. they show that wii u is twice as powerful as next box :D darkcloud then made a correction video, check this out, he explains the details:

But he has the wrong Wiiu gpu. Wii u is rumored to have a 4770 not a 4870.

Well even if it has a technical disadvantage it isnt that big. Besides I didnt really even care about the Wii U being inferior to the rest of the counsels so none of it matters to me. I just want what they showed me.
