"I've just heard it from a friend that Epic has UE3 & UE4 up and running on Wii U hardware.

His source works for a developer, one that I shall not name, but they do work on pretty much every system. So that alleviates any concerns that I didn't have over the Wii U power issue as far as I'm concerned."

"To clarify on what was said, it was more along the lines of Nintendo tweaked the Wii U to make sure it can run UE4.

which would explain the recent bump in specs... and apparently Nintendo is still tweaking the hardware. So it could get even better."

Let this rumor be true!:D.

That would be awesome! E3 had better come soon... I can't wait to see what Nintendo has done with the Wii U.

A friend of a friend told me the Wii U has a quantum computer matrix connecting to your brain.
She works at a company what develops brainware for everyone so that alleviates any of my concerns.

I guess it's good news though.
Not a fan of unreal engine, but it's one less excuse for third parties if true.

Sounds believable. I heard something about Nintendo not really being too sure about how powerful to make the Wii U, so I'd imagine they've been taking a lot of advice from developers on this matter. If Wii U has UE4, then it's next gen, no questions asked. We Nintendo fans have a good few years ahead of us this time around.

Hmm the thing is their even going to be UE4 considering not so long ago they upgraded UE3 with DX 11 features preparing it for next gen which sounds like UE4 isn't going to happen in the foreseeable future.

Epic confirmed that UE4 is for next gen games

So Nintendo would definitely want this supported on the Wii U.

I really hope this is true cuz if it is we certainly wouldn't have to worry about Wii U being "underpowered".

I would be surprised if it isn't true, remember, Nintendo is working with the Devs. And Team Ninja themselves said that it is always evolving.

I read not this rumor but something similar few days ago, that unreal engine 4 runs on wii U.. So yes, thats great news.. because all games will be based in unreal 3 and 4 engines... Crytek is allready up and running, so thats good news.

Wii U may never use directx, but it can use tessellation! As its a hardware based feature.

remember how much xbox and ps3 cost when it released? About 650 euro!! well wii U will cost less, you cannot demand power and cheap at the same time.. pick a side..

I just hope that both screen controllers, are using 1 cpu core and not 2..

Im not worried about price as honestly it would be worth it in the long run.

im glad to see that they have taken advice and added more power to compete with the next gen.

I recently read that cliff at epic games was pushing the big3 to make sure they would have the most powerful hardware possible and that they would only support next gen with unreal 4

What brought up the price of the Xbox 360 and PS3 was the DVD and Blu Ray, the 360 was 300$-400$, the PS3 was $600, since the Wii U does not use DVD and Blu Ray support (the optical disk for the Wii U though it just as good as the Blu Ray) and that the Wii U does not have Gamecube backwards compatibility it will bring the price down, I expect the Wii U to be $300-$400.

That great news but also kinda Ironic since them trying to make a game manage to look next gen on current systems they in turn just made the next gen system look better since they with the same engine will be able to look better than the next gen image they tried to make using the current system meaning its not actually looking next gen because of that but anyways great news .

I found this article interesting it's about Battlefield 3's Rendering Architect detailing what the Next Gen consoles would need to include for Frostbite 2 to work 'perfectly and as intended on high-end PCs.' I can't wait to see these top game engines running on the Wii U.
