I hated the Wii remote's requirement for batteries with a patient. It is likely that the new controller can plug into the console directly to charge, but do you think there is an alternate way to do this?

The e3 model came with an AC adapter which went from socket to top of the controller.

Also, with a passion, not patient.

It would most likely be a rechargeable battery. I doubt Nintendo will be using regular batteries anymore to power any of their console hardware.

I don't see them giving you that option anymore. The controller at E3 had it's own battery. I don't know who would want that option anyways, especially with a controller like that. If AA batteries went dead that quick with a Wii remote, they would go dead instantly with the Wii U controller.

Yeah, I'm thinking rechargeable battery for sure...
That may have to be one heavy duty battery, now that I think about it.
I mean, you have a good size display screen and constant video streaming activity.

I think a good question to ask is:

"How long should this battery last between charges?"

I'm hoping it lasts at least 4 hrs, wireless.

At my local GameStop, the Wii remotes are tethered to an outlet, but we definitely don't have that option at home. It's possible that the wires were just there for the event.

I doubt it will. If it did, this would be a huge set-back for Nintendo.

Just wait until they put Nanotubes in all batteries making them 10 times more powerful than normal.

Something tells me this would also make the batteries 10 times more expensive...

Yah similar to how the Wii Motes you could buy a charge station sepretly but the Wii U tablet will have its own charge station thingy.
