Didn't someone from Nintendo (Miyamoto I think) say that they would not make one because "it would make it less portable so StreetPass would be harder to use." Or something like that?

Battery life, maybe even 'clickable' dual analog sticks, 4 trigger buttons, hardware a little better (not saying current is bad), some other things, and presto! A good next-gen portable!
