It dosen't sound like a sequel. And being a throwback dosen't make it a good name. WES should of been the first one.

Nintendo just has to focus on making Wii Entertainment System it's own brand, plus people will already know it's a new console since it is a new console, new controller, and graphics being better then 360/PS3.

They would not do that because then people might think the PS4 is 2 gens ahead of the Wii U, that's the reason why Microsoft did not name the Xbox 360 the Xbox 2.

Also yeah i am expressing the same worried aspect - the name doesn't feel like a sequel for the mass market but oh well they want the hardcore market supposably we don't really care about the name much but a good name surely helps, also this is okay name.

The okay thing is because now we, the community, can call it WES and no more the same Wii in the name for 5+ years.

I think WES will hold on as a shorter and also the most used reference - i like it.

EDIT: People seem to like the abbreviation however, the long name is even more prone to confusion so, im really not sure if this is 100%, the thing in the picture might be referencing some other Wii news and entertainment system being added as a usual descriptor, the english lang "information release" is also weird.

I don't really think that's the Ipad3. They should of named it Ipad 2.5 or Ipad HD, something like that. But I think they might call the next one Ipad 3.

Guys, I didn't like the name either, but after letting it sink in, its PERFECT.

Your Wii is a simple game machine. Sure, it has Netflix, but that is the only other kind of media Wii offers. WES truely is an entertainment system. Video games, movies, magazines, books, comics, apps(if the rumors are true) etc. It is your go to platform for all forms of entertainment. You bought a Wii, get ready to buy your Wii Entertainment System. It also ties in nicely with the whole Nintendo Entertainment System thing. Like they're going back to their roots, coming full circle. I like it.

the name is alittle strange BUT this could definately work. nostalgia would kick in for many people. also how are we supposed to know they aren't just refering to the wii but in a different fashion.
