I think Nintendo would not change the name since they had released the informtion last year at E3.

Wii U is a good name. Sure, it could've been better but it isn't a bad name either.

It is the Wii, not a name change. it is just a formal way of saying the wii.

Nah. This isn't going to be the new name.
I'm on the side that's hoping for a name change, but I'd rather see Wii U on my box over W.E.S.
Plus it wouldn't make good marketing sense.
Wii Entertainment System as a name could be even more confusing for casual consumers than the Wii U name might be.
And technically, the FIRST Wii could be considered a Wii Entertainment System. So no... that's not it.

That are some cool names, especially 1080 because it is HD and it's sort of a reference to N64. Stream is still the best tho imo.

It should just be called nintendo! They are a massive brand everybody knows what to expect and if u were with ur friends at home all u have to say is 'wanna play nintendo' . Back to simplicity is all the rage!

People I know call the DS Nintendo and the Wii Wii.

What if it was Super Wii or Nintendo Revolution?, and yeah I think Nintendo 1080 sounds cool, but what if Microsoft calls the Xbox 720 the Xbox 1440?, or the Xbox 1081? lol.

I've also gotten used to the WiiU name but I still don't like it. As for WES, I'm glad it's fake. As nostalgic as the name is, it's more confusing than WiiU. I'd be happy with the Nintendo Stream or something but I understand why Nintendo is reluctant to let go of the Wii name.

I like the idea of wii 1080 because I'm a gadget freak but Nintendo like to market products as family friendly and sociable hence the wii name. wii U is we-you again hinting at the sociable side of gaming. I would of thought they would keep to this as it worked so well for marketing the original wii. Its pretty clever marketing to be honest and although Nintendo is so called attempting to win back the hardcore gamer with this console I think they have bactracked on that a bit and really its a continuation of the casual gaming approach that has worked so well for them. Yes the wii U is a much more capable console but ultimately I think its not aiming to be the console of choice for first person shooters or realistic racing games etc which will probably continue to be Xbox and playstation consoles.
