So I just read on the Wii U Blog that the whole Nintendo renaming Wii U to Wii Entertainment System was faked by some guy on GAF (now banned) using Firebug. I guess in a way I see this as good news since I didn't really like the rename anyway. :)

Of course it was fake. IF there is a name change we wont find out till E3. Nintendo's Ninjas would be guarding that secret. Anyone were to try to say it they would get their heads cut off by the Nin Ninjas katanas.
[E3 2012] Nintendo gets it's throne back.

It bugs me you read it on wiiublog.com and only then thought it was fake, when everything about it screamed fake, and taking two seconds to type nintendo.co.jp and click a single link would have disproved it.

Why would anyone want to fake a rumour anyway? It's gonna bite them in the butt sooner or later and it's not going to result well.

The user got permabanned from neogaf already.

I suggest people read neogaf first lol. The guy made it as an experiment to see if journalist websites would use it as a source and he proved right

Oops. I didn't mean to imply that I believed that the rename was actually real. I know that nothing is real until Nintendo says that it is. ;)

But I look at it this way: when rumors were flying about saying that the Wii U was less powerful then the PS360, I never for a second believed it and just had a good laugh about it. Unfortunately, though, there were plenty of people that did believe it and they needed to be set straight, and they would accept nothing short of official news stating otherwise.

So that's all I was doing here, posting a link to news that stated otherwise so that those that did believe the rumor would have some closure.
