If you'd like, you can predict, suggest, and talk about the next generation's Super Mario game here.

A Super Mario game is that generation's 3D Mario game(s).

Ex:
  • Super Mario 64
  • Super Mario Sunshine
  • Super Mario Galaxy 1/2
  • Next Generation's Super Mario Game(s)
The subject just interests me.

Also, cat replaces SM4 for now.

Super Mario Yoshiverse, the entire game takes place on the body of a giant yoshi.

I bet this site's owner would like that. ^^
Also, just added a crappy picture I just made. (It has Yoshi though!)
I think they're making a Yoshi-related game for the 3DS too.

Galaxy was a complete masterpiece... I don't know what its successor will be.

But I have faith that Nintendo will make Mario's Wii U debut amazing.

Yeah. Every one of the Super Mario games has been great.
They all seem to be pretty different from each other.

Unlike Call of Duty, they come out with a new one every year with the same gameplay, graphics, etc. It is sickening for me to watch people say that Call of Duty is "da bomb." (Though it did have its days.)

Exactly.
It's one game with a bunch of overpriced DLC packages.
If reviewers give it a bad score though, people will bash their site.
Super Mario isn't really overused because a new one comes out like every 5 years minimum unless it's an expansion.
They're also always really different.

^Agreed.

What if they throw a curveball and have some kind of crossover game with Mario in it? (Example: Mario + Kirby.)

I don't think I've ever seen them do this.
I wonder if they plan on it.
I wonder how that would work as well.
Well, they did that with Mario and Sonic, but it was more of a Mario Sports type thing.
T'would be cool though.

Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games was just a dumb collection of mini games. (The first one was pretty good, then it went downhill.) So it doesn't count. But then again Mario Party is just a collection a mini games also. :o

I would love for a crossover game. (I know plenty of people probably feel the same way.)

Yeah, that seems like a good idea.
My only complaint would be that it might change the vibe of that game in a strange way.
A lot of people would like it though.
Variety never hurts.

I actually think it needs to come back to its roots, but expand on what makes the 3D Super Mario games different. I would make:

The Mushroom Kingdom
A game that really expands on the idea of the mushroom kingdom and fleshes it out a whole lot more. The story is traditional and you play as Mario, but you can also choose to play as other characters that control similarly, but with differences. Think Multi-player of SM64 on the DS, where you could play as Luigi, Yoshi or Wario. So, kind of like Super Mario World but in full 3D. I think we need a game that clearly defioines what the Mushroom Kingdom is and where everything is. It would be an amazing world to explore.

Each one of Mario games was a new experience,
Sunshine with the vacation theme, the jetpack, the water, paint and light effect...
galaxy with the space theme, the planets concept, the wiimote ability to point...
So the next one must be based on the same basics : new theme, new gameplay based on hardware capabilities

My guess : Super Mario Safari, Super Mario Paint
Super Mario Safari : mario 64 gameplay, specials levels on the back of yoshi, yo aime at foes with the tablet
Super Mario Paint : mario has a magic pantbrush to change the world ..ok call it Epic Mario lol

Id really like to see the comeback of Wario as Villain

I want the series to go back to SM64 roots and be an open-world exploration theme. I'm tired of everything just being so linear and sugarcoated for me to complete the levels in five easy seconds. I actually want to search for Stars that are hidden in well thought out surprises (Anybody remember "Blast Through The Wall")?

Sometimes I feel like I'm the only one who thinks Mario should be linear.

It actually wouldn't be so bad if they just upped up the excitement a little bit rather than just have the path directly laid out for you.

Um, that's kinda what linearity is. :P
