That doesn't mean it can't be "confirmed" or talked about at the meeting..

So far nothing about the Wii U besides sales projections have came out of the meeting.

man, this just seems like the absolute most unlikely of all the unlikely rumors I have heard so far (at least, the ones that people are taking seriously)... is it even POSSIBLY true? would I even WANT it to be true?

... this coming from a big Gears freak... i'm not sure that epic loves any nintendo franchise enough to give it the proper treatment.

Yes, but they will be under Nintendo's guidance. The main reason people are so excited about this possibility is strictly visuals. So hopefully, if this is true, we could get a well balanced combination of Epic's graphical style and presentation with Nintendo's well thought out storyline and controls.

hey now! that's as unfair as saying that nintendo only makes games about fuzzy animals hugging each other. it's NOT a bad idea because epic is somehow incapable of making a nuanced, engaging game. it's a bad idea (if it is one... i'm still undecided) because i'm not sure that epic's strengths align well with metroid's very peculiar "ethos"... which involves, among other things, the core mechanic of recursive exploration/discovery that you mentioned.

I hope for a mindless metriod shooter, a direct copy of halo.

Good Point, even if Epic is crappy, that's not new for Nintendo. They usually work with not that good developers which then end up with great results. Next Level Games for example. Or Kuju. Take a look at what they produced outside Nintendo. Nothing on the level of Epic. However the games they made with Nintendo are awesome.

Yay.....Metroid with overloaded levels of testostone and grey and brown colors all around. Generic dudebro shooter.

The only thing I want from epic is their unreal engine 4. After all, Metroid prime used a modified version of unreal 2.

You got a point.

As for the worrying people: I read Epic made a good "metroidvania" game, so they might not screw this up. But the action parts for sure will be good.

Probably, this rumour is fake tho. Also, I'd rather have UE 4 instead of a Metroid game, or an upgraded version of UE3 or something :/

If not Unreal Engine 4 then Unreal Engine 3 with Samaritan Demo graphics at the very least.
