Each Wii is tied to one friend code. When you buy a Wii U and start it up for the first time it will ask if you want to link it to a Wii friend code? You type in the friend code one time only and voila! Nintendo can track the purchases you made before and will allow you to redownload all of them onto the Wii U at no extra cost. Nintendo tracks your friend code internally so they know what you bought. It would work the same way as the connectivity of the PSStore between the PS3 and PSV.
At first I thought you should connect the friend code to a Wii U account, but then I realized, that would screw over any second or third users on your Wii U as only the first account would have access to all the previously downloaded software. So tying one Wii console to one Wii U console in the general settings allows all account users to have access to all the previously downloaded software from the Wii.
Thoughts?
Do you think Nintendo will do a system like this? Or will they just make some kind of file transfer app?
