I just finished reading that Wikipedia about Otaku people. It's much more severe than fanboyism. MUCH more severe. If you leave you're house more than once a month, you're not an Otaku
I was scared because of the "Otaku Killer" It was creepy :/
Also, this might sound like a stereotype, but I find it weird that the Japanese would sometimes hate something like Anime and Manga.

I suppose that's a western way of looking at it.
It's more about the extreme.

But Sheldon leaves his house...It's like, Leonard, Wallowitz and Raj are nerds, and Sheldon is Otaku.

Everyone is a fan of something, whether video games, singers, actors, etc. The obsessive fans are the real problems. I am in the middle though...
I am sorry to say though, fangirls are pretty annoying. I used to be in fanfiction.net aaand...they're friggin obsessive. >.>

Couldn't think of a better description if I tried. *hands you aYou're correct. Fanboyism is just another bad case of close-mindedness. A fanboy aligns himself with a company, and will defend the honor of their favored company tooth-and-nail. They refuse to acknowledge the validity of factual evidence when it is presented to them, solely because they want to believe that no company can trump theirs.
