That 4 button placement looks awkward. I'd have to reach across with my thumb towards the center and that might get unconfortable after a while. Once again, just like with the GameCube and Wii controllers, not good for fighters.

The problem is that, if they swap the 2nd analog with the 4 buttons, it'd just be a 360 controller.

Well this is good. I'm glad they have a standard "light controler. Better suited for extensive gaming sessions" (or something like that). I don't expect to use this controler unless i have friends over... but its nice to see. And it means anygame with splitscreen, no matter what, will allow for player two to have all the buttons (if the game mode allows it). I was expecting to be forced to use my old classic controler (& pro) for splitscreen games using a full pad. Although i also like playing FPSs with the Wiimote & nunchuk so... im happy beyond happy. EVERYTHING JUST WORKS!

Also if a game allows me to play without the touchscreen... and i just dont want to bother using the battery power for it... I suppose i'd use it. It looks cool too.

I'll use Tablet my Brother will use the WUP and guests will use my CCP's.

I just realised... The CCP doesn't have clickable analogs... you may want to buy multiple WUPs. Which isn't so bad, considering its an awesome looking controler.

Most of the games I'll be playing multiplayer won't need clickables. Like NBA2K13.

I don't think you'd be stretching your thumb actually. Notice that the directional pad and the stick aren't directly above/below each other. If you swivel your thumb in place up and down, perhaps even using a controller to help, you'll notice the placements are in the natural positions...

I think the layout of WUCP is perfect, and obviously so does Nintendo. However, the Wii U is not releasing yet, and even though it's in the final stage, the controller can be redesigned. I believe companies have Testers, and they test it to see if it's comfortable or not.

i love how some people still have something to complain about, even when Nintendo delivers a traditional controller that looks perfect for their so-called "hardcore" games, instead of the "gimmicky" tablet controller...-__-

It looks like it will be more comfortable to hold than the last controller and it looks nicer too, IMO. The fact that it's wireless is also a bonus.

Rather than being an Xbox 360 controller copy I see it as the Wii U GamePad WITHOUT the touchscreen.
I mean, the analogue sticks, D-Pad and A/B/X/Y buttons are in the same position.

Exactly my thoughts. It looks awkward, but not on the Gamepad though..

I'm not 100% happy with the lay out as its too similar to the Xbox controller which I find hard to use. I wish it was closer in design to the Playstation controller. That said I'm still excited by this awesome news and I will still be getting one as an alternative to the tablet. One thing I wonder is if you can use the Wii U controller pro in conjunction with the tablet controller, i.e. use the screen of the tablet controller whilst using the controller pro to actually control the game.

Basically, ms copied the GameCube controller layout exactly (minus the nasty bean shapes). So, the wii u pro controller would just be copying themselves. Even though the upside down "W" shape does resemble the 360 pad.

The wii u pro looks way more comfortable. Not to mention way cooler looking.
the Xbox handle are too fat and the thing is too wide.
The buttons on wii u will be essay to reach and be suited for fighting games too since your palm doesn't have to watch out for the analog stick.

Nintendo saved themselves with this. If they package one in with every Wii U, devs won't have to use the GamePad if they don't want to.

I very much doubt it will be included with the hardware. That's an added cost for them on a system which is likely to cost a fair bit as it is with the main tablet controller. It's more then likely going to be an optional extra just like the classic controller and classic controller pro were for the Wii.

Whats stopping them from not using it on the upad? Devs could simply just not program anything for the upad. The purpose of the upro is for local MP, not as a primary controller.

That's not the main purpose of the Wii U Classic Controller Pro but one possibility. The main purpose is an alternative to the main Wii U Pad or tablet controller especially for those long gaming sessions where the screen is not needed. That's the impression I got from what Iwata said on Nintendo Direct.

Even though it looks like an Xbox 360 controller, it still looks frickin' awesome!
