You set expectations wayyy too high.

What?
Expecting good third party support is too high?
Expecting first party games is high?
Expecting that a conference, where a console was going to be fully revealed, to be good is too high?
What is this I don't even.

I have a feeling we will have more game announcements in the next 2-3 months. They may not make the launch window, but maybe there plan is that the Nintendo "fanboys" will buy the system day 1 regardless. About the time they start losing momentum they can launch some of the games that we are all looking forward too (Monolith's, Retro's, 3D Mario, possibly a key 3rd party exclusive, etc....). Then about the time that Next Xbox and PS4 are launched we will see anohter round of games such as Zelda.

I'll still be getting a Wii U on launch day, but only cause I have the money and I plan on getting multiple platforms next gen. If I was only planning on buying one Console next gen I would be waiting :(

E3 is not over yet, so I won't say anything other than it's too early to start forming opinions.

They have all the major third party releases of earlier in the year, and are likely to have the more recent ones in 2013. Tricky position for nintendo though, they can't get everything because games take years to make.
pikmin 3, mario and more coming.
The console was revealed on sunday.

I'm sorry but Nintendo should not be forgiven because games take time to be developed. They should have known that the core were watching and they made a major U turn. The exact same thing they did in 2008.

There was no wow element to the presentation. There were no surprises or anything that said "Hey we are Nintendo and this machine is a big effing deal." What I got from this was "Hey we are Nintendo and we don't play with your rules. We will have more information on our time and you have to come to us to see it." I'm sure I will go where they tell me but from right now, I had no idea what I wanted to see, but what I do know is what they showed was not it.

Me neither, but it's a real problem. People expected Zelda U and Smash Bros., get your expectations in check and it was an alright show.
Bearing in mind they have all the 3DS stuff later, this was an amazing show.
But judging solely on what they showed, it was just alright.

Nintnedo: Surprise! We don't have many new games to show you like you thought we would, just the old ones from last year.

It wasn't zelda or smash bros, It was about other IPs that haven't been seen for years, no new IPs that miyamoto hinted at.

It was really a slap in the face, they were serious about getting into the next gen and not going to repeat the problem with the 3DS, they didn't show enough launch games worth buying the system for.

Well this conference just killed my Wii U hype. Wii U just went from day 1 preorder to an "I'll wait for a price drop and some decent games after a year or so".

horsing terrible. Worst E3 since 2008 and probably as bad as E3 2003. This was your worst important time to hype your new console and draw in the hardcore and you show casual crap. I can't believe I'm going to say this but Ubisoft actually saved Nintendo's conference and is publishing the only launch games I care about right now!

I think it's time for Reggie and Iwata to leave Nintendo. Time for a culture change. The casual market doesn't exist anymore, we need people who know this to lead Nintendo.

At least I have my PS3 to look forward to, with god of war, last of us, playstation all-stars, and Beyond.

Pachter was right, this console will flop. And there were never any NDA's because there were no Wiien games being developed for the console to begin with!

I'm done with this console. See y'all next year.

Developer Roundtable is where they announce things not coming in the launch window.

What a slap to the face. Why I have been loyal to this company and defended it all this year is beyond me. I feel so foolish now for defending the Wii U. The PS360 fanboys are gonna have a field day with this one.

I might still pre-order the system, but only because I have a ton of credit at Gamestop and I'd love for Nintendo to somehow turn around the image of this thing now leading up to the release, but if i was 90% buying it Day 1 yesterday, I'm maybe 30% buying it Day 1 right now. It's unfortunate that the only thing I loved from the weekend from Nintendo was the reveal of the Pro Controller, since I never really had much of an interest in gaming on a tablet screen to begin with.

The conference really did suck. If I bought the system I'd buy NSMB U, but like NSMB I'd probably love it once through and it'd sit on my shelf until...now. There's nothing else that I've seen so far I'd need to play Day 1 or more importantly pay $50 or $60 to play Day 1. I have a 360 and PS3 for third-party titles, and I have a feeling nobody outside of maybe Gearbox/Ubisoft is going to develop any multi-platform games specifically for the Wii U right now. It'll all be ports and last-second afterthought additions for the Gamepad...much like MANY (not all) games treated the Wiimote controls.

That said, E3 as a whole was pretty bad. I haven't used my Kinect in months. Last game I tried was Gunslinger which I hated and traded in. The crappy reviews for Star Wars Kinect made me realize not only was I not buying that game, but that Kinect as a whole might not be worth keeping anymore.

Sony showed us a couple good games, I don't know, what the hell is happening to the video game industry?
