Some I have spoken to say the would be reluctant to buy a wii u if it won't play their legacy wii games. There are some current games I would like to keep playing and have only one system set up. I read something - forget what - that made it sound like the wii u will play older generation games. Anyone know or have an idea?

It will play Wii games. Gamecube games aren't supported. There are reports the triggers are digital so the chance of them being virtual console is slim. It will most likely be able to play virtual console games.

If it's Wii games your talking about then yes, it will play them.
