Here are the games i think we will see:
Checkers
Chess
connect four
naughts and crosses
solitaire
Snake
games i want to see:
Breakout
Bowling
Asteroids
Space Invaders
paper toss (http://itunes.apple....d317917431?mt=8)
Combat (old atari 2600 game)
Some old video games such as games on the 2600 can even be ported onto the gamepad with updated graphics, which I think would be awesome just to play on the gamepad itself.

Its a selling point of the console ahhh!!! Streaming what's happening on the console to the game pad so you don't have to use the main tv.. It frees up the tv for other things. The controller is not a standalone unit. Yes games will be built for the game pad but the console has to be on.. It's called off tv play. Just research anywhere about it, it's just a controller!... The only time it wires when the console is off is when it's being used as a tv remote.go to 0:49 and look at what it says at 0:55.

It's seems this way as Sony is leveraging the fact that wii u controller lacks its own processor.. But I thinks it's better this way as the console will have more memory a better processor. This combined with the fact that the system only has to be on is pretty nice. You can have a sole experience from startup to shut down without looking at the tv screen, meaning solely game pad. Also keeps costs down and the controller lighter.hmm I hope you're wrong as the console would be a lot cooler if the gamepad had a small amount of memory/storage itself to play smaller games. Only one way to find out is to ask nintendo I seen written somewhere that we haven't found out everything the console/gamepad can do yet.

And I'm not sure if it's as simple as attaching a "Wii U gamepad memory card" to the controller to store handheld games. Might require more than that.

when did he say that? It's a controller not a standalone console all processing is done on the console itself, so the games would be built into the console and streamed to the controller

He's trying to play games solely on the gamepad without the console. Which would make it a standalone unit, which it's not. I'm just trying to explain that it is not capable of higher functions, it's just a controller.. Kind of went into rant mode, sorrywhen did he say that?

Just my opinion but I believe we'll be able to play smaller games on the gamepad without the console being on, I don't think anyone but nintendo knows what's inside that gamepad but who's to say they don't have some hardware in their that allows people to play it without the console being on? look at the Ipad, it can play decent games well and has enough space for loads of good games and the Wii U gamepad doesn't seem that different in size.

Even with the tv off wouldn't it still be streaming the menu and stuff into the game pad. Also sense its a controller not an actual handheld gaming device I doubt you'd be able to store anything past Miis or other really small things onto the Gamepad
Darn.... I thought it would double as a controller and then a Nintendo version of the ipad to try to steal sales from apple
