Google Translate says:

"The Company will be dissolved as of the date was 30 June 2012.
Patronage so far, Thank you very much.
This website will be closed as of July 31, 2012.

Empty Project, Inc."

You guys are probably asking "What will happen with Super Smash Bros. 4?" According to Nintendo Enthusiast (http://www.nintendoe...sora-2009-2012/), the game will be exclusively developped by Namco-Bandai and Namco-Bandai Games, with Sakurai leading the development team. Basically, fear not, Sakurai will still be the one working on the project.

So what do you guys think? I think it pretty much explains the sudden partnership between Nintendo and Namco-Bandai (Sakurai had to find a studio to work in). I also think that it pretty much confirms Namco-Bandai characters for the next Super Smash Bros.

What are you waiting for? DISCUSS.

Uh...you do realize that Project Sora was pretty much made for Kid Icarus: Uprising, right?

Sora Ltd is still around, so no. I don't think Namco-Bandai are only making the game.

The "sudden partnership" isn't that big of news. Quite a few developers helped create Super Smash Bros 4, including Monolith Soft among others.

I don't think much of it to be honest. Project Sora was just for Kid Icarus: Uprising, so it makes sense that it should be closed now.

Don't over-think things, it does no good in the long run.

EDIT: Even Wikipedia says it's Sora Ltd, not Project Sora helping to make the game. http://en.wikipedia....ros._(Wii_U/3DS)

Every Smash Bros. has been developed by a new specialized team every single time. That is how Mr. Sakurai tends to work on his projects. He and another team from Nintendo will be working on Smash Bros. 4, Sora wasn't ever involved in the first place.

Be wary, the suck is coming.

No. Sora ltd. is still alive and kicking, they just expanded the team for KIU to make project sora. Since Kid Icarus did badly, the team dissolved, with many of the members heading back to Nintendo and other companies. Sora ltd. is still working on Smash Bros. 4 with Namco.

I didn't believe that Kid Icarus did a bad job, in terms of gameplay and overall fun. I'm assuming it was the sales figures that didn't add up to Nintendo's expectations?

.7 million in 3 months I'd say that's really good

Then what was the apparent problem that caused the shutdown of Project Sora? Did they seriously only make that subsidiary for just one game?

Yes, that's probably how it was, and I hear it's common in Japan to put together a collaboration just for one project.

Actually no, Project Sora was formed originally to make Kid Icarus: Uprising but then would continue making games for Nintendo in the future, but the collaboration with Namco-Bandai probably caused problems with this since Masahiro Sakurai was no longer available with all of his time focused on Smash Bros..

The only bad news in this is that the likelihood of dlc for KIU just went way down.
