I was just wondering...

What exactly has RARE been doing since leaving Nintendo and working for Micro$oft? I know they made a few games and all, but really...what have they been doing?

I'm starting to miss the good old days when they used to crank out hit after hit with the Big N. *cough* *cough* Perfect Dark *cough*

Yes! They made games such as Donkey Kong Country for the SNES and GoldenEye 007 for the N64. Back then they were called Rare Ware.

They were what Retro is to Nintendo today. (I think I said that right)

Well wow! What the heck have they been doing now a days! Can't be much since I have never heard if them!!!!!

They've been making most of the Kinect games.

They also released Banjo Kazooie on the Xbox 360. That's about all I know.

LOL... I thought you were joking in your first post. Rare used to be Nintendo's Golden Boys - the go to studio for everything awesome and cutting-edge on the big N. It's really Nintendo who dumped them, not the other way around, because the big N execs said they didn't see much promise in the studio's future. Might have been a self-fulfilling prophecy, but it sure seems like they were right.

Rare has mostly been pumping out so-so Xbox Live Arcade games for the past few years. Some of their best talent left early over artistic differences, and they haven't really found their way since... one of the saddest stories for core gamers ever.

Well, I guess it's true what I've heard then. When Rare split from Nintendo, some of Rare's most talented people left Rare itself and formed another game developing company...I forget the name of the company, but I think the new company made the shooter called Time Splitters.

Free Radical Design? Yeah, that's what happened. The people who left were the ones who worked on Goldeneye 007 and Perfect Dark. They're called Crytek UK now, though.

They used to make such amazing games. Now every game they make is either mediocre or terrible.

Remember Donkey Kong Country 1-3? Banjo-Kazooie/Tooie? Goldeneye 007? Perfect Dark? Donkey Kong 64? Jet Force Gemini? Conker? Star Fox: Adventures? Some of the best to ever land on Nintendo's consoles?

They've really gone down the crapper. They're not much better than a dev that makes horrible movie-based games now. They used to be legendary...

They didn't just fall. They were shot square in the head, beaten up to a pulp, then chucked down Micro$oft's well of death.

Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts is a mockery of 2 of some of my favorite games EVER. I want every copy burned.

*sigh* Yeah...

Micro$oft (...or Rare...whoever did it)completely ruined the image I had of Joanna Dark with Perfect Dark Zero by trying to turn her into a Halo clone. That p!$$ed me off! I played it and was like,"This ISN'T the Perfect Dark I remember! Screw this S#!+"

They sort of redeemed themselves when they completely gave the original version of Perfect Dark a facelift and still managed to keep Joanna Dark more like her original self.

I remember around the time the first Halo was released, I found it hard to get completely absorbed into it because Perfect Dark, to me, was still SO much better. I know that sounds like insanity, but I still have not found the Halo series more entertaining than the original Perfect Dark yet.

I heard that even Rare didn't want to put those vehicles into the 360 Banjo-Kazooie, but M$ forced them!

CURSE YOU MICROSOFT WE COULD HAVE HAD A GOOD CURRENT-GEN BANJO-KAZOOIE!!!! possibly...
