Didn't Sony actually have the Eye toy before the Wii?
Yes, they did.

Maybe one day it will be entirely normal to have a touchscreen integrated into all controllers as well. And yeah, Sony and MS will "steal" the idea from Nintendo at first. But in the long run it'll be better for everyone. Innovative ideas are meant to be copied.

Well this wasn't so much defending Nintendo as it was attacking its competition. This topic makes me cringe. It's one thing to defend Nintendo, but it's another thing to use crap comparisons.

Sorry if it came of as that.Well this wasn't so much defending Nintendo as it was attacking its competition.
What I meant was that this was probably made by some Nintendo fanboy thinking they were defending the Nintendo when in reality they are probably making the Nintendo fanbase seem petty.

Im fine with it as long as they give credit to Nintendo for the inspiration. Though it makes me slightly angry when they call something "gimmicky" and go and do it themselves.
Keep in mind that it wasn't the companies that called it gimmicky, it was the fanbases. The actual companies probably thought it was genius from the start, but too worried to put it out in the market first thinking there was a chance it would fail
