Has anyone even thought of this yet? I don't want my Wii U to end up like my first Xbox 360. The Wii U looks very compact and with the power everyone's talking about, I'm sure its gonna give off some heat. The case looks like it lets in very very little air and the vents look like clog central. But I'm a paranoid person just thinking of worst case scenario.

What do you guys think?

It may have plenty of vents, but it looks like inside everything would have to be squished together. Unless the CPU/GPU is on one die and not hiding under the disc drive.

Nintendo has probably tested to make sure that it won't overheat unless you leave it on, and doing stuff, for like a week strait. I wouldn't worry about it too much.

The Wii U is a dedicated console. It is designed by Nintendo to be very powerful, but also very efficient.

consider the new Macbook Pro with Retina Display. The laptop is nearly as thin as an iPad, but it has a quad core i7 CPU, an Nvidia Kepler GPU, 16GB RAM and solid state storage.

It is in a case which is many square inches smaller than the Wii U.

Apple keeps it cool. cool enough to be a pro level machine to last for a decade or more.

Nintendo will have no cooling issues with Wii U.

Nintendo systems don't overheat. If they ever did, it's extremely rare.

Wii U has massive venting in place, has internal fans and new manufacturing processes.

It will be extremely powerful and run plenty cool.

Zero worries here.

This is a company that takes great care to make quality products.

Not Microsoft, who wants to cram it together, make a few bucks and let the consumers work out their kinks for them.

You ever open up your N64 or Gamecube? They're a thing of beauty on the inside. Try doing that with peer systems like PSX or Xbox. Yuck (although the Wii itself is somewhat of a backwards step here).

and most of that is battery - something the Wii U doesn't have to deal with (PSU another matter).

With the advances in manufacturing and Nintendo's penchant for efficiency, there will be no cooling issues.

It's a non-issue. HUGE Vents on top on back, side...

I would also like to include nintendo eve even said this cons this console would be used for long periods of time. Moto even said at e3 that he expects people to be emerged in game play for hours. So I'm certain they have ran the wii u on full power for days

I remember my Wii fan got clogged or stuck and it would overheat and just shut off. Finally figured out that the fan wasnt running so I just took a toothpick and put it in and cleaned the dust and gave the fan a push and it started up. BTW, I realize this has nothing to do with the Wii U, its just my only issue with overheating with any nintendo console, and it was easily fixed. There are so many fans on the Wii U that I'm not worried at all. It really is a beautiful console in that pic. Nice smooth design.

the gamecube board is a thing of complete wonder its gorgous iv actually considered taking a gamecube apart and having the inners framed put it on the wall that console was designed by GOD

My N64 has had pediasure poured in it, rolled down stairs, given and taken back from my little sisters. Can plug it in right now and play ocarina of time. :3 Mind you I've had it since 2002.

Dude, Macbook Pros get HOT. And I agree Nintendo makes sure their products work for years. I never understood how they could fit so much on such a small motherboard tho. Same goes for Apple. I wonder if Nintendo will have a vertical stand for the Wii U
