We need a peek into launch period sales before we can estimate a price drop.

Unfortunately, my time machine is still under construction.

Luckily my time machine is fully functional, i have visited the future and i will now lay out a timeline of events

November 15th 2012- Large lines begin to form around Retail stores
November 18th 2012 6:59am - all hell breaks lose as thousands of peoole across the nation stampede into stores trampling each other
November 18th 2012 7:00am- Launch of Wii U at $299.99

January 9th 2013- Nintendo announces New Metroid title for Wii U

Fastforward to 2013 holiday season because the only notable news is that animal crossing 3ds was delayed 4x

Holiday 2013- Xbox 8 and PS4 are released

2014- Kinect 2.0 is just as disappointing as Kinect

February 2015- Sony's financial woes force them out of the videogame industry
February 2015- Nintendo buys the rights to Playstaion and all 1st party games

November 2015- Nintendo releases "Super Smash Bros. Allstar Battle of Eteral Greatness Championship"

Fastforward to 2025

2025- Nintendo's only rival is an Apple gaming system as Apple has managed to consume Microsoft in entirety (Steve Jobs laughs maniacally from beyond the grave)

That future XD

Everyone else has said it, unless we get the 3DS fiasco Part 2, I doubt anything will happen~~ Is anyone going to wait to stand on line for the launch countdown?

I believe the price will be too reasonable to be dropped. If it doesn't sell enough, it will be because potential customers aren't appealed by the launch lineup. Thus, are waiting for the announcement of more games. I personally am not thrilled with the current games. The main U games I want are Smash, DQX, and a Final Fantasy. Perhaps a new Sonic if it is Advennture 3.

The wii u cleverly avoids using any expensive technology. Importantly for Nintendo's bottom line there is no hard drive which can cost $20-40 on their own even at the price Nintendo pay. The gamepad screen is dirt cheap. Its only low resolution and resistance type. Digital photo frames with the same screens without the touch sensitive layer cost next to nothing. You can get them for sub £10 in the uk at tiimes. They probably cost no more than $2-3 to make the screen and that might be generous as they still require circuit boards and a processor for example. This is not an expensive console to make. Its only to current gen levels plus a bit and 7 years have passed since they launched.

Nintendo won't be losing money on this console. It likely costs sub $100 to make easily. That isn't a critiscism its actually a compliment to how Nintendo have cleverly costed their design to reach a good performance level without costing much to make.

It depends. If the wii U launches at a high price, ($400-$600) It will sell less. If it launches at the variation prices and SKU's rumored, it couldn't fail, especially at $250 (at cheapest)

I say if it does fail, I want me some gamecube ambassador games.

It wont fail, but if it fails my answer would be: Yes, the price will drop.

We won't have to worry about that. It won't be the 3DS launch all over again.

Thank goodness!

if the console is 400 nucks or higher they will drop it, but i doubt it will be that high anyway.

300 bucks or even 350 would be a great price point,325 would be perfect. if these are the prices than the price wont drop at all nonatter what

$350 is as high as I go.

is this even relivent yet ,what are we talking price drops for seriously

Exactly. 2+ internets for you. (I agree.)
