It's a 2D Mario game.
Does anyone really care what resolution it's at so long as the gameplay is the same?

I am pretty sure you word isn't the word of everybody . And yes 1080p resolution isn't a must but I prefer being able to see the character on for TV instead of seeing jittery blocks(note not talking about 8 bit mario I'm talking about low resolution screens) that kinda looks like the character its displaying. But when has anyone cared what resolution mario had been in before?

Oh come on people don't tell me you can see a big difference between 1080p native or upscaled...
Or is it just me?
Depends on how large screen you have.

Firstly, 1080p would just make the screen bigger, forcing the characters to appear smaller. The opposite of what you say you want.
Secondly, did you last play a NES? Mario games don't look jittery.

I was referring to modern mario games on 1080p Tvs in SD and how they(and all other videos games in SD) Looks like a bunch jittery pixels(the term jittery is just responding to the person in motion ). I would just prefer to see a clear image of my environment instead of a pixelated one. Note: Running it in 720p it doesn't at least with my screen size do what I said above I was just using an example to explain why higher resolution are better to have and like I said a couple of post above its not a must but its something that really helps with the overall look of the game.

This is going from 720p to 1080p( I believe its 720p to 1080p but it kinda looks like how 480p looks on my television instead of 1080p)
