Am I the only one excited for the nextgen graphics? I still prefer Nintendo over the rest but hey this time we will get to see the real next gen graphics if this rumor is true, not multiplatform games that have high AA and res on a PC, but completely new graphics technologies.

nope im pretty hype for the next gen graphics as well. i know the wii u will have some amazing looking games come next year, but with Sony and Microsoft spending most of there time focused on graphics im really amped to see what next gen games look like.

Chances are if this rumor is true the 8 to 16 gigs is dev kit Ram and that it will be reduced to 4-6 gigs for the final version.

UNNAMED SOURCES

/thread

NO.... This is pretty legit, and directly coincides with timelines of middleware engine developers like miles sound timelines stating new sdk versions for orbis listed as 'secret platform'.

Though most people still dont seem to understand the difference between ram in a devkit and ram in retail units.

And the (accidental? or is it.....) use of Gigabits instead of Gigabytes in the original leak is bothering me.

>>>Anonymous, unnamed sources spouting an absolutely ridiculous amount of power even for a dev kit is apparently always legit
>>>middleware engine developers supporting this new "gem" of gaming info...this would be great except for the fact that I've never seen any "middleware engine developers" say one blinking thing on any major news website

Still trying to figure out how those two statements you made even support each other.

Thats because their is no such thing as 'gaming news' havent you been following doritosgate? No 'game journalist' that hasnt been fired for letting the cat out of the bag about being on the payroll of the company you write reviews for has the competence to dig up real information, they only regurgitate what publishers tell them to say.

Perhaps if you googled miles sound, part of rad game tools, who has tools used to make practically every game on the market today instead of forming an argument from ignorance, youd understand how they support each other.

By the way, these guys are what were used to get wii u sdk information REAL wii u sdk inormation, they break sdk change news before anyone else everytime.

Added secret platform (contact us for details).

Before this the last 'secret platform' was wii u.

And i got news for you dude, unless they are leaving something out, like a second standalone gpu these are NOT insane specs, or anywhere CLOSE to what delirious sony fans are convinced they are getting.

I'm sorry, I tend to not follow things I've never heard of once in my life.

Don't gotta be rude, I'm just saying I've never heard of any of the things you've talked about before, and they don't make sense to me. It says a lot whenever you'd rather openly attack me for being ignorant rather than actually completely and wholly answering my questions.

Another fail for Sony, if all this pans out to be true, PS4 or PSOrbis is gonna cost s**t loads of cash which people cannot afford, have they not learned from the Vita mistake yet?

If its going to be powerful and be a graphics power house people will shell out 500 for it like they did for ps3. I would not be suprised if the next xbox and ps3 are min 450. Remember as time goes on things get more expensive not cheaper look at the automobile industry prices go up every year.

No it wont. This is actually fairly conservative. Its actually a similar design to the wii u, and saves costs for similar reasons.

While the a10's performance is blown out of the water by common pc setups, its performance to pricepoint ratio is pretty good.

hmmm this same topic over at Neogaf I think is funny.
They are saying 10x the ps3 is going to be the reasonable guess as to how power the system is with these given specs with some pulling out 16 x the ps3.

8-16 Gb (vg247 original used Gb, do they know the difference between Gb and GB? Im going to assume they dont, because if they did, the ps3 would have less ram than wii u) is for the DEVKITS.

Wii u devkits have 3-4GB ram. Retail units have 2GB (or 16Gb).

Halve devkit ram to get an idea of whats coming at retail.

A10 apu series. Conservative, but no slouch. Sony is thinking fiscally this time.

Its pretty much the same design concept as the wii u. Gpu and cpu on one chip, easier thermal management, less juice needed.

No mention of a discreet gpu on top of the apu. There are going to be same devastatingly disillusioned fanboys if this is legit.

Everyone else should be happy with 1080p 3d 60fps 'no problem'.

I was just about to say this. Halve the ram and that's more likely what will be available on release day.

I was looking up the specs of the a10 and it has 4 cores with 700 flops of processing power. Now compare that to the Wii U's 3 core 570 gflops. The important thing here is that it wont be that much more powerful than the Wii U. Hopefully this avoids a Wii scenario.

hmmm Neogaf thread of this continues to deliver .....So Sony Can't afford to skimp out of hardware so they have to use the amd radeon 8000 or 9000 equivalent version of 7970 .... Why do I get the feeling Sony Fans want their company to die.

So not only am I going to drop well over $500 (facetious number, I know, just bear with me for the sake of argument) for a system, it won't actually come with any controllers?

MAN, the future of gaming is looking awesome.

On Topic: Now, I'm no tech-head by any means, but wouldn't 8 to 16 gigs of RAM make the system freaking expensive in the long run? And if so...is Sony just begging to be bankrupt before we reach 2015?

EDIT: Just did a bit of research...16 gigs of RAM should cost around $70 or more, while the graphics card that they're touting (AMD A10 APU) is around $130. Not to mention that a replacement blu-ray laser (which, according to the report, is being used again) is around $35-40.

That's almost $250, and that isn't factoring in casing and other stuffs on the inside of this behemoth. I sense another "$599 U.S. DOLLARS" in our future.

By reading this information I have realized something, Wii u will easlily be the best next gen console. The amount of ram is unrealistic.

I was just about to say this. Halve the ram and that's more likely what will be available on release day.

that tri core rumor was never confirmed and also debunked. The wii u is supposed to have a four core cpu, with the gpu handling many of tasks that the cpu would normally handle.

If its going to be powerful and be a graphics power house people will shell out 500 for it like they did for ps3. I would not be suprised if the next xbox and ps3 are min 450. Remember as time goes on things get more expensive not cheaper look at the automobile industry prices go up every year.

think again, 700$ atleast for ps4 , xbox is heading in the wii direction next gen with an even heavier focus on multimedia.

Not just insane but stupid if is is true. If its cheap enough i might just get it as i missed out with sony on the ps2 and ps3 :P, but sony would be absolutely dumb to but this much ram in their console. The high end pc's dont even use more than about 3 or 4 gigs.

LMFAO.

Protip: Read what came after before you post.

If this is it, which its looking like it is, multiplats between wii u and orbis/ps4 is garunteed. Not that i care for multiplatform games.

That also means, hopefully, pc gamers can throw off the foul poisonous tentacles of the hdtwins, and rise back up to playing REAL pc games again, not being held back by consoles.

Not true in the computer world - look at laptop prices 10 years ago compared to today. Technology and manufacturing improves, and prices go down. Look at the cost of a LCD TV from 5 years ago to today.

It doesn't really matter what Sony releases, I'll never buy another Sony product in my life. Their name is spoiled as they continuously get hacked and CC information has been stolen repeatedly. I have no friends on PlayStation, they all have an Xbox 360. But most of us are in agreement that we're moving towards the Wii U - and hoping that there's enough multiplatform and exclusive games released for it so we don't have to pay another $300, $400, $500, perhaps even $600 for the next Xbox. Will it happen? I imagine we have at least a year to see how much support and games it gets, and if it's just as dead as the Wii has been.. I guess we'll be hopping on over to the next Xbox afterall. But again, our hope is to not have to spend the money twice just to play the games we want to play.
