I've been wondering this but I haven't found anything about it, maybe you guys have heard. Is it possible to boot up the Wii U straight onto the GamePad, meaning hitting the power button and it starts right on the GamePad without needing to turn your tv on?

I would hope so. It can function as a TV remote without the console being on, so I would assume it could.

Be wary, the suck is coming.

The upad's interface has a Switch between TV and uPad interface button, so you could just hit that button if it doesn't.

I don't think so. You can turn on the gamepad to access it like a remote control for the tv. But in order to boot the console to play games, you need boot the Wii U to display on the tv.

Posted ImageI'm 99% sure that Reggie confirmed this to be the start up screen for all people who have an internet connection. As for the gamepad, its extremely likely the touch screen will have a button somewhere that lets you take this screen and put it on the controller then you can go on from there.

You could turn on the Wii by pressing the power button on the Wii Remote, so I guess you could turn on the Wii U through the Gamepad as well?

He's asking if you could boot the Wii U menu on the gamepad screen.

Update taken from IGN:

It's possible to access your Wii U without even turning on the TV. The power button on the GamePad will enable the system, and allows you to access content without touching your TV. The best part - the TV Remote integration will let you then turn on the TV through the Pad itself. Pretty awesome.

But wait, there's more. You can also access the GamePad and turn on your Wii U through the controller's touch screen. Right within the remote interface is a button that says 'Play Wii U' - touch that, and your system turns on. Of course, you can also press the power button on the system itself - kind of how we've been doing it for decades.
