i've heard of some general public confusion about the GamePad, like some people thinking it's portable like the Vita. it got me thinking, what if it was? obviously it's size isn't optimal, but let's forget about that for a second. what if they did make it portable? instead of streaming the images, what if they had something like download play, an internal memory, SD and USB? that way you really could play them anywhere, not just in range of the Wii U. imagine your playing on your tv, then you switch to controller, play it on the way to your friends house, and when you get there you put your game on their screen.

the problem: cost. GamePads are already expensive. this would obviously cost more, plus you'd need a console. also the size as i mentioned before, isn't great for portability, although if you use an iPad it's really not so bad.

So what do you think? is the GPP a good idea, or a frivolous waste of money and resources?

If it replaced the DS as their handheld system then itd be a good idea i suppose but if they released that and then release a new DS line then itd be silly since they would be competing with themselves

Even though you can't use the Gamepad without the Base nearby, the Base is still pretty "portable".

There is nothing keeping you from dragging both the Base + Gamepad over to a friends. I am betting you'll even be able to run the system in a car with a good inverter. I plan on dragging mine on a few vacations and on a few trips. The fact that this system doesn't even need a TV and remains pretty functional is a very unique and powerful feature.

May be cool if it was but idk if it after will be.
I do know they said you would be able to play a few games from table without the Wii U on. Like chess and stuff.
It was on one of the early videos of the wii u, not sure if that is still true but i remember seeing it. Believe it was on he same video with the duck

The controller doesn't have any real computer parts in it, so the games wouldn't be able to run. Yes you could add a Wii U into the controller, but it would be really expensive.

Be wary, the suck is coming.

All of that would just be a huge waste. And it would drive me crazy like the 3DS XL does.

3DS XL is soooo much better than the original in sooo many ways, and if they could keep costs down this would be a great idea.

I don't need a portable system I want them to make a gameplay HD that has a crystal clear high def screen. That was my only grip when I played it

Technology doesnt exist yet that can put a machine as powerful as wii u in the size and thermal envelope as the gamepad, nor does reasonable sized battery technology exist to keep it powered as a portable device.

Actually that a terrible idea, no offence. I'll tell you why. First of all, the gamepad is running off the wii u console. In order to play games anywhere like a portable device means they would have to completely rebuild the gamepad with processors and video chips inside the gamepad. That would make the already expensive gamepad even more expensive. Why not just create the next generation Nintendo handheld? Secondly, that would defeat the whole purpose of the the wii u itself. The wii u is a home console. The whole reason for the gamepad is to intergrate the gamepad touch screen with the tv to create a unique gameplay experience. The off screen play and solo gamepad features are merely convienence and not the purpose of the gamepad. Sorry your idea was terrible. The chances of this happening is like 0.00001 %. But hey you can always dream.

I'm sure we'll eventually see someone mod a GapePad to house the Wii U inside it, much like the portable N64 and GameCube but the big problem is the spinning disc, one sudden move and you could potentially scratch and destroy the whole thing.

What I mean by "It drives me crazy" is that Nintendo urges you to buy the XL. For example, they use the XL screen in trailers, and people from Nintendo like Jessie(I think her name is Jessie.)from Nintendo Show 3D has one. It's just that, when the XL of any system comes out, Nintendo and other people completely forgot about the original model. I just prefer the original 3DS over the XL one.

By the way, where can I get a signature like yours?

Keanu Reeves takes signature requests here: http://thewiiu.com/t...tures-and-sigs/ he makes them all himself, he's really talented, it usually takes about 3 days, you can request whatever you want and he will do it for you :)
