But most people already had a Wii with Wii remotes.

Yup. They figure since a ton of people already have them, let them use them again. That's a lot easier than making entirely new controllers that EVERYONE has to buy.

Yeah well people like me didn't I'm gettind a Pro Controller free with my Wii U, and I've Pre Ordered a few 2 player games for me and my fiancee, but it turns out on all the 2 player demo's I've seen you need Wii Motes so my Pro Controller is basically worthless, and I'm out of a job, I can't afford an extra £35 for A Wii Mote! Even the Nunchuks are nearly £20 and they are just a cheap piece of plastic.

But that's not Nintendo's problem that you have to buy an extra controller. You don't HAVE to. You have a gamepad, and if you want to do more, use old Wii remotes, or if you don't have any, cough up.

You just don't get it so I'm gonna leave you to stew that you have to pay extra for a controller that you can get for like £10 second hand.

I have sold my Wii U, so if I deleted you from NN before I sold it, or haven't accepted your friend request since, this is why.

Look for some used ones your bound to find some. I imagine there's a bunch of people who have/will trade there's in with there wii not realizing they can be used with the wiiu.

I can't understand the price of those Wii Motes, they are last Gen, Nintendo should have dropped support for them in my opinion and focused on the Pro Controller and GamePad

the wii motes can still do things the pro contorller cant.

no metroid uses the game controller and the wii u

Thought i saw a video of 5 people playing with gamepad and wiimote/nynchunck combo.

£40 for the pro controller is a bit off a rip off IMO. You could buy another game for that price!

You do know a ps3 controller is $60 and so is an xbox 360. At lest at launch they where. The only reason i got 2 ps3 remotes is because of the little big planet controller bundle.

Yeah but not everyone can afford a million controllers.

gotta pay to play. Just because you cant afford it, doesnt mean they gotta lower there price. If that was true apple would be out of business from money lost.
If you cant afford it then you dont need it. Plain and simple.

Peeps don't seem to realize that there are two situations that coulda happened with the Wii U.

The first is Nintendo does something nobody else has done and allows us to use our last gen controllers and continues to sell them in stores so people who didn't have a Wii can still purchase them. (I kinda wish they wouldn't cost the same amount they did 6 years ago)

Or

The second is they don't allow us to use our existing Wiimotes and make us buy all new ones. Which is what they are kinda doing with the Pro Controller but imagine you NEEDED to buy them to play multiplayer games.

So either way you guys who didn't have a Wii will need to buy controllers. This way just benefits those of us who already have 4 Wiimotes.

How is it a rip off ? Xbox and Playstation controllers cost just as much. If you think it's too much then don't buy it.

That begs the question why you're even spending so much money on a new console in the first place if you're unemployed. It's not Nintendo's fault you can't afford the extra controllers.

Hmm maybe you should look things up before you post

Xbox 360 - £22.99
http://www.amazon.co...53102881&sr=8-1

PS3- £30
http://www.amazon.co...53103057&sr=1-1

Wii U-£39.99
http://www.amazon.co...53103349&sr=1-1

So in what universe is £30 or £22.99 the same as £39.99?

You cant buy a brand new PS3 or Xbox 360 game for any of those two prices, but you can buy a Wii U game for £39.99.

I already have 4 non plus remotes, with two having the plus built in ( I also have the motion plus for a standard remote that came with Sports Resort). So I'll be able to have three players. But I would like to have two more with the plus built in. Plus I'll need a Classic Controller Pro for some of my VC games since I just played them on my Wii with the Gamecube controller, which is no longer an option. I'm also looking for Pro Controllers in the future. So I'll at least spend $70 on controllers ( likely more) in the near future.

All I need for myself is a new Wiimotion Plus controller and a Pro controller.

Ummm maybe you should actually think before you post. They were a lot more when those consoles first launched. Not to mention those are not MSRP prices but Amazon's discounted prices. They use to cost around £40 and still do in some places.

Think about it like this. With the Wii Remote, developers have the option to make games that can't be done as well, or at all, with the standard controller. While motion controls are arguably still just trying to get on their feet when it comes to their finding their place in "core" games, if they were to kill off the biggest name in motion controllers then all the progress that has been made with them in the past six years would be lost.

If you were comparing launch prices then maybe you should be clear and use past tense:

"xbox and ps3 are just the same"

What you should have said was:

"xbox and ps3 were just the same when they launched"

Looks to me like you're the one who needs to think and specify when you are comparing launch prices.

Whatever. That's just semantics. I dont need to think to specify when comparing prices. You obviously cant get over the fact that you were too quick to criticise my post. No doubt the price of Wii U pro controllers will be discounted too at some point.

Yeah I understand what your on about there, the part that get's me is just with some 2 player games Wii Motes are required if they allowed support for the Pro Controller then it wouldn't bother me.

It kind of is in some degree, considering that Wii U was sort of aiming to move bit more away from motion controllers. Sort of get the third party companies flowing again and look at this this game requires this controller and that one requires this one or that one. In all honesty a parent buying these games are going to end up buying little Billy & Sarah a console and games, with X controller to find out it does not support it. Better yet, they will buy the controller and find out the game requires an additional attachment. I am not really complaining about price here, but Nintendo just does not know how to pick a standard controller format & the developers are not helping. In all honesty Nintendo is out to nickle and dime you. "Oh guess what you bought a Wii Ware title and you have to go buy a classical controller and the new pro controller does not work". Because mapping input values to just a d-pad and buttons is murder.......
