But most people already had a Wii with Wii remotes.
Yup. They figure since a ton of people already have them, let them use them again. That's a lot easier than making entirely new controllers that EVERYONE has to buy.

Look for some used ones your bound to find some. I imagine there's a bunch of people who have/will trade there's in with there wii not realizing they can be used with the wiiu.Yeah well people like me didn't I'm gettind a Pro Controller free with my Wii U, and I've Pre Ordered a few 2 player games for me and my fiancee, but it turns out on all the 2 player demo's I've seen you need Wii Motes so my Pro Controller is basically worthless, and I'm out of a job, I can't afford an extra £35 for A Wii Mote! Even the Nunchuks are nearly £20 and they are just a cheap piece of plastic.

the wii motes can still do things the pro contorller cant.I can't understand the price of those Wii Motes, they are last Gen, Nintendo should have dropped support for them in my opinion and focused on the Pro Controller and GamePad
Thought i saw a video of 5 people playing with gamepad and wiimote/nynchunck combo.no metroid uses the game controller and the wii u
You do know a ps3 controller is $60 and so is an xbox 360. At lest at launch they where. The only reason i got 2 ps3 remotes is because of the little big planet controller bundle.£40 for the pro controller is a bit off a rip off IMO. You could buy another game for that price!
gotta pay to play. Just because you cant afford it, doesnt mean they gotta lower there price. If that was true apple would be out of business from money lost.Yeah but not everyone can afford a million controllers.

That begs the question why you're even spending so much money on a new console I'm the first place if you're unemployed. It's not Nintendo's fault you can't afford the extra controllers.

How is it a rip off ? Xbox and Playstation controllers cost just as much. If you think it's too much then don't buy it.

Hmm maybe you should look things up before you post
Xbox 360 - £22.99
http://www.amazon.co...2881&sr=8-1
PS3- £30
http://www.amazon.co...3057&sr=1-1
Wii U-£39.99
http://www.amazon.co...3349&sr=1-1
So in what universe is £30 or £22.99 the same as £39.99?
You cant buy a brand new PS3 or Xbox 360 game for any of those two prices, but you can buy a Wii U game for £39.99.

Think about it like this. With the Wii Remote, developers have the option to make games that can't be done as well, or at all, with the standard controller. While motion controls are arguably still just trying to get on their feet when it comes to their finding their place in "core" games, if they were to kill off the biggest name in motion controllers then all the progress that has been made with them in the past six years would be lost.I can't understand the price of those Wii Motes, they are last Gen, Nintendo should have dropped support for them in my opinion and focused on the Pro Controller and GamePad

If you were comparing launch prices then maybe you should be clear and use past tense:Ummm maybe you should actually think before you post. They were a lot more when those consoles first launched. Not to mention those are not MSRP prices but Amazon's discounted prices. They use to cost around £40 and still do in some places.

If you were comparing launch prices then maybe you should be clear and use past tense:
"xbox and ps3 are just the same"
What you should have said was:
"xbox and ps3 were just the same when they launched"
Looks to me like you're the one who needs to think and specify when you are comparing launch prices.

Whatever. That's just semantics. I dont need to think to specify when comparing prices.

It kind of is in some degree, considering that Wii U was sort of aiming to move bit more away from motion controllers. Sort of get the third party companies flowing again and look at this this game requires this controller and that one requires this one or that one. In all honesty a parent buying these games are going to end up buying little Billy & Sarah a console and games, with X controller to find out it does not support it. Better yet, they will buy the controller and find out the game requires an additional attachment. I am not really complaining about price here, but Nintendo just does not know how to pick a standard controller format & the developers are not helping. In all honesty Nintendo is out to nickle and dime you. "Oh guess what you bought a Wii Ware title and you have to go buy a classical controller and the new pro controller does not work". Because mapping input values to just a d-pad and buttons is murder.......But that's not Nintendo's problem that you have to buy an extra controller. You don't HAVE to. You have a gamepad, and if you want to do more, use old Wii remotes, or if you don't have any, cough up.
