I purchased our Wii game console about 4 years ago and it very rarely gets used as we are not "gamers" so please be patient for my ignorance when it comes to the proper gaming world lingo, etc. When we do get it out, we enjoy it immensely and I am interested in upgrading it to the new system. With the old system, I had hoped to be able to play against some of our out of town friends, but that didn't work out too well. As my knowledge is quite limited at this point in time, I hope that the new system offers more features and titles than the old console did.
I will also mention that my forum expertise is extremely limited as I only belong to one other site and it is for boating and not gaming. Perhaps I had better close for now before I get flamed for running off at the mouth.

I'm sorry you got treated so poorly last intro thread. I have no idea what came over some of the other members on here, and I apologize on their behalf. We usually are very accepting of newcomers, and I'm not sure what they were doing with your thread in particular.Yesterday, this 66 year old newbie was quickly taken to task for saying more than "Hello" in my intro post. My bad for not taking the time to read the rules.

As for your question about the Wii U. It is a great systems, and I fully believe it is worth the upgrade for "hardcore" gamers, but I'm not sure about for "casual" gamers. What kind of games would you be interested in playing?

Fun fact: I used to go to a friends place after school when I was young to get supervised until my parents came home from work. His dad is probably in his 60's now, and probably spending way too much time slugging it out on Playstation consoles. In a way, that's how I came across pretty much all the great titles of the PSOne.
As for the Wii U, just get whatever you guys feel like getting. That's probably the most important thing when it comes to video games. For family fun, I suggest Nintendoland, Sonic Racing Transformed and Super Mario Bros U. They are all 5 player compatible.
Really suggesting Sonic Racing Transformed. Mario Kart will lose it's silly party racer crown because of it.
Trophy Cards are classy too! LOLZIGZAGOON

I would pick up new super Mario U and Nintendoland because they are fun games to play with the family. Maybe Sonic and sega racing transformed as well if you like racing games.
PM me if you want to add me on 3ds
