I've been thinking this for the past month, and i've been wondering.

What if the wii U gamepad was it's own system/handheld? Would you still buy it? The reason I ask is because the wii U gamepad pretty much has alot of essentials of being a handheld/console. You have a touch screen, gyroscope, and buttons.

Post away.

I think so. I've been slowly growing away from console games recently, and I think that the Wii U is a step in the right direction for console games. I'd love to have the Wii U Gamepad be the system, and would buy one in a heartbeat should it ever be one.

Be wary, the suck is coming.

If Nintendo made a portable Gamepad, and still had all the games the Wii U itself has. Then yes, I'd buy it.

No, I'm not really a fan of handhelds.

No. I would not feel safe constantly shaking the Gamepad with a disc spinning inside it just to do some motion control action.

Trophy Cards are classy too! LOLZIGZAGOON

The gamepad is really just a controller that connects to the wii U system. It has no capabilities (except for turning to TV mode) without being in the wii U's range.

Maybe, if it had a full 1080p screen and cost no more than £150.

Not really. As a handheld, it would be a pretty poor design. The Vita is already at the limits of a good size for a handheld and the Gamepad is bigger and fatter than that. If it were a handheld, you wouldn't get Wii U quality games either. I like the Gamepad from what I've seen (still waiting for release here in the UK) but its interest for me is in its contribution to console game, not the device in itself. You might as well ask me if I'd buy a DS without the top screen.

I wouldn't. Probably because I've been playing a lot of handheld systems lately. But under the right circumstances, I would.

Food for thought. Do you guys think that Nintendo's next console will be a portable/home console all in one. Play it on the go and when you get home hook it up to your TV and play games.

If the screen was HD and they used something other than discs (either cards, usb sticks, or downloads) because of the motion sensor, I would totally buy it.

No, it would just become another Wii gimmicky add on, that only a few games would probably use...

I wouldn't because that would be like getting an advanced 3ds....plus it probably isn't as powerful as a console
