What year difference are you talking about?Well releasing a full year before the competition is a good thing. The Wii U has time to get out there before the other consoles hit the market. By then all the kids in school will know at least someone with a Wii U and ask their parents it for christmas. That's pretty much how Xbox survived this gen. It did horribly with the first Xbox, but that one year head start gave 10 million people the console, and people usually buy what their friends have. I know I did when I was younger. Now that I'm older and can buy more than one console it's different. But one year is huge.
The Xbox got a few days head start over Nintendo, but they still had to fight it out for the holiday shoppers. While the PS2 came out 2000 so everyone for the holiday seasons likely purchased it. Unless your talking Xbox 360. Yet later in the 360 days Xbox already sort of made a name for itself outside of Japan. Heck Halo 2 was flooded with players be it XLink Kai, XBConnect, or Live itself. It had a few prompt titles that most people followed it to the next without hesitation. Then as far as the other two consoles you sort of had no competition. Being the price tag on the PS3 at the time. Not to many people were happy to go spend 600 to 800 bucks on a console to then have to buy what little games it had to offer. (Not saying people didn't buy it. Only that it suffered more due to this & more people went to the Wii for the cheaper option even. Heck all my buddies and myself skipped over the PS3 launch due to price for a console).Nintendo GamCube:
JP September 14, 2001
NA November 18, 2001
EU May 3, 2002
AUS May 17, 2002
Microsoft Xbox:
NA November 15, 2001
JP February 22, 2002
PAL March 14, 2002
----My Two Cents----
As far as advertisements go, they do a lot of it, but no very compelling in terms of what it shows. Displaying only the Wii U gamepad and a bunch of people huddling around a TV with Wii Motes. If they just eliminated the Wii mote from the advertisements alone people may not be as confused. I am sure just the sight of the motes makes more people think of it as an accessory.

I'm saying people buy what there friends have. The first Xbox did bad, but with a year head start on the 360 they captured enough marketshare to stay relevent. I think this will happen with the Wii U.What year difference are you talking about?

Pretty thin on the ground here. Couldn't even find an 8G in Calgary last Week. ANYWHERE!

I can't blame them after the wii fiasco. Then again it will be justice when it explodes in there face as few people are going to be willing to pay the inflated price giving how well nintendo is keeping up with demand.
