Rather than do some Album of the Year thread, and have everyone post and vote and stuff, I decided to just make a suggestion thread where people can post what albums they think people should listen to. Just make sure they're 2012 releases though mmkay? So to provide an idea of what I expect, I'll start by example:

I made a thread about this album some time ago, so you can search it up if you want to read my initial response to the album. This is a solid R&B release, and is nice to listen on trips in the car or if you want to just chill out. My fave track is the one highlighted in the playlist

If you've never listened to Passion Pit, this can work as a great start I think. They're an electric pop group of sorts, and you've probably heard a song or two from them on television without noticing. I know Taco Bell used "Take a Walk" in their Dorritos Locos Tacos commercial. Anyway, I digress. This is a pretty happy-sounding kinda album but don't let the tone fool you - Some songs are a bit sad. Mirrored Sea was my favorite track, but there are plenty of other great tracks

This'll be difficult for me to describe by sound for me. If you've ever listened to Regina Spektor, this is a lot like that. Essentially we've got female vocals to some jazz and blues music. "Every Single Night" is a great introduction, but I personally love "Left Alone" the most.

Lecrae's album "Gravity". It's good Rap/Hip Hop without trashy lyrics.

Trip Lee's "The Good Life" is also very good.

Wrecking Ball by Bruce Springsteen. Always one of my favorite artists, especially since he has a song about this area.

As I Lay Dying - Awakened.

Something new for the band, but as awesome as ever!
(For those that don't know, a very heavy metalcore band).
Bring the noise.

My most anticipated of next year has gotta be Sick Puppies - Under The Black Sky, around February-ish. Or Creed's new album around Winter 2013.

Bloom was just wonderful, and is perfect for listening during the summer. The first three tracks are great, but the rest are pretty special too.

Posted Image

The first two tracks are my favorite. Compared to their debut album, this is a great improvement I think

Posted Image

I'm seconding this album. Made a thread 'bout it too some time back. "Day Four" is my personal favorite, but V.A.L.I.S is a great intro I think. This album, for those who have listened to previous Bloc Party albums is pretty unique to thre previous, but can be thought of as a "mash-up" of the previous albums.

This is the first time I've listened to these guys and I think they're awesome at first listen. Kill for Love is my favorite track, but the others are great too. Personally, I'd take this as my album of the year. Chromatics is a synthpop band.

Posted Image

I think this album is a grower. Give it a few listens though 'cause I think its worth it. Grizzly Bear is a folk band of sorts if you're unfamiliar.

Well, the one album I really enjoyed from 2012 is Onward, by Hawkwind. They are a space rock band that mainly specialize in space rock and psychedelic rock, but they also play regular rock, metal, and a variation of all sorts. Another thing they are notable for is always being different from what's popular, but not in a hipster sense.
Their new album was a good collection of both spacey stuff and a variation of other things.
hawkwind-onward.jpg

Seasons is one of my favorite tracks of the album. It's a generally good track that has the space rock influence, with some regular rock and heavy rock thrown in.

The Hills have Ears is a great space rock track that reminds me of their fantasy songs.

Mind Cut is a nice track that is just pleasant to listen to and isn't too spacey or that heavy.

Southern Cross is a nice spacey track.

Death Trap is a great fun track, that is both spacey and punk rock. Of course it goes in hand with System Check (a sort of intro/transition track).

The Prophecy is another favorite of mine.

Other memorable tracks include The Drive By, Right to Decide, Flowering of the Rose, Computer Cowards, Green Finned Demon, and Trans Air Trucking.
