I just got a Wii U (Basic Verison) for Christmas and I did the day one update which went perfectly. I got Cabalas 2013 Dangerous Hunts and ZombU which both play on the system perfectly. I tried to play the new super mario brothers Wii and The legend of Zelda; Skyward Sword, and it ask me to sync the Wii remote which works, and I also sync a second remote which worked. Now I am looking for the game icon to select the game, but all that is there is a blank wii icon disc. When I select it it just asks me to sync Wii remotes again. What am I doing wrong?

You have to go into the Wii channel to play Wii games. Common sense really. Also there is a search bar for this kind of thing.

I was given some Wii games now that I purchased a Wii u, I don't have a Wii or remote. The gamepad says to pair a Wii remote and Wii sensor bar. If I get a Wii remote only can I play the Wii games on Wii u without a Wii sensor bar (I'm curious if it will work with the Wii u sensor bar already connected?).

The sensor bar that came in the box with the wii u is the original wii sensor bar, it will work just fine.

As mentioned the Wii sensor bar and the Wii U sensor bar are both exactly the same thing.

No need to be so harsh. You may think its common sense but its not neccessarily that intuitive.

If my 4 year old cousin worked it out. Then any person that can get on a forum and create a new thread should be able to figure it out.

Where is the Wii Channel located? I am missing channels. Is there a way to activate or download them. Or do I have to restore system back to factory settings, and re download the day on update. Or transfering old data to new system trigger it. Any ideas

there should be an icon on the Wii U menu that says Wii Menu. If its no there, check to see if there's another update available. If none of that works, I can't help you.
