The following information comes from Masahiro Sakurai's Twitter account...

- announcements like Smash Bros. Wii U/3DS would usually be accompanied by a trailer, but the team wanted to keep gamers patient while waiting for E3
- this is why they put out just a limited announcement
- Sakurai says E3 will come with a much better announcement
- the plan is to show off both the Wii U and 3DS versions at E3


Also worth noting, Sakurai exchanged tweets with Pokemon director Junichi Masada. The pair discussed how they're looking forward to seeing/hearing more about each other's games (Smash Bros. and Pokemon X/Y) at E3.

Is it just me, or is Nintendo going to kick ass in the software department this E3. I know Mikey is going to show off the Vnext or whatever dumb name they can think if, but Nintendo has Mario kart, new Pokemon generation, a smash bros trailer, new 3D Mario, Zelda wind waker, and new Xeno game. Plus others that haven't been announced yet... E3 2013, UR GONNA SOIL MY UNDERWEAR!!

Nintendo has to kick ass in the software department. Microsoft is pretty much guarenteed to show off new hardware (not Sony since they want to give Microsoft the first move, maybe they will try to help the Vita this year), so Nintendo has to keep people interested in thier confrence, and 3D Mario, Mario Kart, Zelda, and Smash Bros can do that, especially if they have another bombshell announcement like when Snake joined the Brawl.

id keep both versions fairly seperate, but if kept together, have 3DS feature normal modes, wiiU have better graphics and more modes for larger amounts of player.

i wont make too big of a deal though since it wont take alot of power to run a SSB game well.

Well, there's gotta be a lot of action possible on one screen, and it all should run without any framedrops.. it could take more than you think.

no no i meant we'll see what ever they're gonna show, but at the end we'll see a teaser of some character, or special mode or something, like a shadowy figure or scrambled up clip. something to make us speculate for months.

I just hope there's some sort of F-Zero game in the mix.

And cross-platform play (Wii U-3DS) would make SSB4 the best installment yet! With some more 3rd party characters of course.
