The problem is..I game at a table on an HD monitor. Am I going to lose some big benefits of the new controller because I can't really jump around in my gaming center or use an empty space on the floor?

Gaming on a monitor is for PCs.

And wii u controller doesn't mean you have to act like a spaz and jump around, etc. like you would with kinect or Move.
Everything will be fine.

you don't really have to jump about with the gamepad, you are confusing it with the X360 Kinect, the most you will have to do with the gamepad is stand up on the spot with it.
I suspect the OP is referring to the Wii's remotes and not the Xbox 360 Kinect.

Answer would still be no, you've never had to jump around with Wii remotes

You obviously didn't play games that required that then. Of course there were times when you had to jump around with the Wii remotes. With some games it was neccessary.

Even in games that wanted you to jump around you could get away with just simulating the motion from your armchair.
