#137389 New Super Mario Bros U vs. New Super Mario Bros Wii?
Posted by Sargon on 24 November 2012 - 09:06 AM
I already got it. My question was really is there any reason for me to keep my old copy of New Super Mario Bros around for the Wii, or is NSMBU better in every area so much that I should just sell the old version because it is not worth playing?Just get it, it looks awesome and it probably most likely will be awesome.

#136950 List of compatible external USB powered Hard Drives
Posted by Sargon on 23 November 2012 - 01:43 PM
I stand corrected on my earlier post. I bought and tested this HDD and 1 USB port did not supply enough power. The drive continuously turned off and on and the Wii U was not able to detect it. I don't understand why so many other devices can supply the appropriate amount of power through 1 USB port and the Wii U can't, but that is in fact what happened. I then tested it with a Y-Cable and everything seems to be ok with that. I haven't run anything off the HDD yet, but it detected and formatted ok.Buffalo Ministation 500GB USB 2.0 Portable Hard Disk Drive: http://www.amazon.co...53543967&sr=8-2
Hoping to use this but I'm probably gonna need a y cable too

I don't think you will need a Y-cable for that HDD. A single USB 2.0 port should be able to provide enough power to run it.

#134981 wii u malfunctions when connected to usb storage
Posted by Sargon on 20 November 2012 - 04:54 PM
Will an external HDD that was designed to use an AC adapter work with a usb y cable instead?
He said it has its own power supply though. Would the Y cable still provide a solution? (half wondering for when I get my own HDD)
There is absolutely no reason to use a USB Y-Cable if the HDD has its own power supply. The power supply provides all the power that it needs.

#131765 Nintendo releases more info on what storage you can use
Posted by Sargon on 17 November 2012 - 07:39 PM
Does anyone know if this will work with Wii U? http://www.bestbuy.c...lo HD&cp=1&lp=7
Yes, I'm pretty sure it will. The quote from Nintendo states:
Some bus-powered hard disc drives draw more current than the USB 2.0 specification and might not run stably, so we cannot guarantee that such devices will run properly on Wii U without the use of a supplemental power cable called a y-cable that draws power from two USB ports
They are simply stating that some HDD's may draw more power than what the Wii U can provide so they can't guarantee that every HDD will work. If you read up on reviews for the Buffalo MiniStation, nobody has reported any issues powering it through 1 USB port and I don't think it will be any different with the Wii U. I expect this drive to work just fine.

#126926 Can I Use The Pro Controller For 2 Player Games Instead Of Wii Motion Plus?
Posted by Sargon on 09 November 2012 - 07:33 PM
Thats what I was saying in the other thread, they messed up with all the different controllers
Yes they did. I think that is going to be one of the biggest issues with the Wii U. There are just way too many controller options. I don't know why Nintendo made things so complicated, but I have a feeling there are going to be a lot of confused customers.

#122055 Protective cover for gamepad

I think these will be the simple peel-and-stick screen protectors, not the more difficult kind that you see for most cellphones. I can't get those on without bubbles either, but the peel and stick ones are no problem.I can't use screen protectors lol, I'm hopeless at getting them on, the amount of money I've spent on them and failed lmao
