Building a new desktop, need help with graphics card choice

Hi guys

Ive decided to build myself a new desktop for my room since I just finished university and I want to give myself a gift !

I havent been keeping up with the recent trends of graphics cards and was wondering if any of you guys can help me out

I do want to game on it but don't want to spend 800$ on gpu

I also heard that the radeons are the better choice, let me know you guys
