In Topic: Thinking of grabbing a WiiU, want some feedback from console owners

I wouldn't have bought the Wii U (or any console) for $500 USD, and probably not for $418, which is the current conversion of $500 NZD to USD.  Is the Zelda WWHD bundle available where you are?  That would increase the value some.

With that said, I'm very happy with my Zelda bundle for the price I paid ($300 USD).  I disagree that the amount of games available is limited.  I don't have enough time to play the games I'd like to be able to play on my Wii U.  Certain online features feel limited but Miiverse is mostly awesome.

I think it's still too early to tell what will happen with N64/GC games on the eShop.  Who knows?

As for the system's portability being "restricted," I'm not really sure what you mean.  It's a hell of a lot more "portable" than the other consoles because of the Gamepad but it's still a home console and not a portable handheld.  Although it is still "portable" in the sense that you don't need a TV and can use it anywhere you can plug in the console (I saw a picture of someone playing it on a plane with the console plugged in and using the gamepad, not sure if that was real or fake).  The PS4 may eventually be more "portable" if all PS4 games can be played on Vita, but that also requires buying another device.  Let me just say also that I can't overstate how awesome I think the off-screen gamepad feature is, especially given that I didn't have to buy another device like with PS4.

To sum up: I am overall very happy with the purchase but probably would've waited if it were $400+ USD.

Nah unfortunately they don't sell that bundle here and if they did, knowing our sub par retailers, they would charge extortionately for it.

In regards to gamecube games on the estore, it would be amazing, but honestly I don't trust nintendo to have the brains to implement that, and if by some miracle I am wrong they'd probably only run at 480p.

In terms of portability, my first impressions of the device were that the gamepad WAS the console, and not merely a gamepad, meaning I could take it to work with me etc like a DS for example. I also heard very few games can be played without the TV on with the gamepad alone.

I may have found a clearance sale for $299 NZD here but obviously stock is limited, but I am considering it..

I think everyone can agree that they love the gamepad, and love the off-tv play. I haven't regretted my decision, I've had great fun with it. The games are only 50-60$ full price here, but I guess they can be expensive where you live.  I wouldn't expect much 3rd party / indie exclusives unless this christmas takes off. I am slightly disapointed with Mii Verse though, its still needs many improvements, but I play games alone, and usually don't care about the social aspects.

What games would you recommend? Preferably outside of the typical recommendations?
