I think it probably will be their last console, not because I think they'll drop out of the industry, but because I think the idea of traditional "game consoles" is going to be phased out over the course of the 8th gen and going into the 9th gen. Hardware is likely going to become a lot more open, more customisable and such, so it'll be interesting to see how Nintendo adapts to that.

But if they did drop out of the industry all together, I don't think much would change for me. I already use the PC as my main platform, PlayStation for most multiplats, and Xbox for the few good MS exclusives.

They've done this before, last time was back in 2010 I believe, so it's not really signifying a sequel I don't think.

However, assuming that Silicon Knights could have been working on ED2 before all the trouble they got into, it is feasible that Nintendo might have moved the game to another studio, causing a delay and requiring them to extend the trademark again.

That was actually legitimately amazing IMO. I was totally not expecting them to reveal Monolith Soft's game so early, and it looks just as good as I expected. Yoshi was a nice surprise, and I'm so glad that Ninty decided to one-up Sony/MS/Third parties by properly remaking Wind Waker rather than just slapping it into 720p.

All in all, brilliant Nintendo Direct. Can't wait for 3D Mario, Mario Kart and SSB4 at E3.

and did you notice the only major developer not mentioned was Retro?

Retro will most likely be at E3. And you know their game's gonna be some top notch stuff, so the wait's entirely worth it I think.

Hope it's Gen 6 for the 3DS. I want R/S/E remakes as much as anyone else, but I'd prefer to see something properly new first. With a new gen and new hardware it leaves a lot for Gamefreak to experiment with.

Didn't the company that made the Kinect's technology actually approach Nintendo about it before they did Microsoft? I guess this goes both ways too.

Though I am very skeptical about how fun a Wii Kinect would have actually been...

It's definitely not coming at launch, but I wouldn't rule out a later port guys.

Rockstar certainly dropped the ball here when it came to platforms though. They have the money, they have the resources, and it's GTA for christ sake, it'll sell on anything.

Remember that the PC version hasn't been confirmed yet either though guys. So maybe R* will be nice and give both PC and Wii U their own special edition release on the same day this time next year. ^_^

I think the Wii U launch will only make us more active. We'll actually be able to discuss games we're playing and all then. Maybe we can get a few events going for CoD:BO2 or some other multiplayer-heavy game.

I agree that Retro should probably be making a new IP at this point, they've really showed they have the skill to do so after making 4 great games across 2 consoles.

Zelda wouldn't be bad though, I feel like a western dev like Retro could put a whole different spin on the franchise that Nintendo EAD simply couldn't pull off. It'd be interesting I think.

It's an interesting idea I think. Like the other guys said, I think it could increase their profits by some margin if parents see there's a video game store out there where they don't have to let their kids gaze at those oh-so-traumatising M-rated game boxes as they walk over to the Wii/Kinect aisle.

I can just see the awkwardness when some 18+ year old guys try to step in there to get their hands on those plushies though... Possibly even criminal charges too considering how paranoid some people can be..

If you asked me a few years ago I'd probably say I was kinda disappointed with the PS3. Simply because back in 2008 or so it was really a pretty sub-par console and I just loved the Xbox 360 way too much at that point. But I really think Sony managed to turn it around for themselves since then, and meanwhile Microsoft just seems to be having screw up after screw up when it comes to winning over the actual hardcore gamers. So no, I definitely wasn't disappointed with my PS3 in the end. ^_^

I still think the PS1 was Sony's best console though, but to be honest I think PS3 and PS2 are almost equal by now.

I'd be OK if Skyrim didn't come....IF... the successor comes on the Wii U. I've played every elder scrolls...since unlike most on this forum...I'm old Lol.

I've played every TES since Morrowind. I feel like I might need to get around to trying Arena and Daggerfall sometime though.

It's a bit late for Skyrim on Wii U I think, but if by some chance it does happen, well, the more games the better I guess.

I'm more concerned about future Bethesda titles though. TES VI and Fallout 4, etc. Especially Fallout. Don't tell me that the Wii U pad wouldn't work AMAZINGLY as a Pip Boy.

I don't see MS, Sony or Nintendo doing it first. Cloud gaming is a much more feasible thing for PCs.

I don't particularly like the whole Cloud thing anyway. My internet connection isn't too good so I wouldn't like my entire ability to play games being dependant on whether or not I can actually connect at that time or if it's going at a decent speed. And for the PC, sacrificing the whole moddability and customization aspects would be horrible.

Now I won't be able to resist the urge to get Superman the Blastoise back next time I play Pokemon.

Just finished listening to it, and I was fantastic for a first podcast.

One suggestion I do have though, and it's just a suggestion, is to add some faint background music. It would add some more ambiance and spice up the podcast a bit.

Oooh, I love this idea. There's plenty of video gamey tracks we can use that'd fit great.
